As Ubi Fate stated, moderation is not up for public discussion.
I would have done the same on the thread for the same reason. I find that when we don't nip things in the bud, people tend to push the rules more and more.
We have worked hard to get this place better, so we are just trying to maintain that.
We don't want our key members of this community to receive infractions for pushing the boundaries if that makes any sense at all?
It does to me![]()
I'm sorry to come off as potentially snarky, but better how exactly? Ubisoft promised better communication with their Breakpoint players ages ago, but we have yet to see any commitment to that promise. Why has that not been 'nipped in the bud'? It is as silent here as it has ever been and maybe, just maybe, that is also why some players feel they have to push said boundaries just to get a simple response because no amount of constructive criticism and ideas seem to trigger anything whatsoever - only the same old "we have passed it along". That gets old after the 10th repetition.Originally Posted by UbiT00n Go to original post
It was clear very early on that Breakpoint was struggling massively, but at no point did Ubisoft reach out except for with faceless surveys. Not once have players post-launch received any sort of insight into the thought process behind the game and its design, the vision behind it, the reasoning behind the decisions that were made. People who have been dedicated to this game since launch and to Ghost Recon as a whole long before that have paid a huge sum of money to support it, far more than most other AAA titles, not to mention all the time and toil invested by some incredibly creative and dedicated community members here on the forums. And this is the sort of support and community engagement they can expect for their efforts and hard-earned money? Locked threads and individuals banned for submitting jokes and giving voice to their frustrations?
It may very well be that some rules weren't respected and I know you community representatives only do your job, mean well and often take the brunt of the player frustrations. But it's also important to recognize and understand the cause of these frustrations. And until Ubisoft show commitment and takes their promises seriously, I don't think these frustrations will change.
Honestly I don't mind. When I first joined the forums the community was in a toxic place. The frustrations had led to an environment which was uncomfortable to be in.Originally Posted by rashano90 Go to original post
The community team have all worked with everyone to un toxify the community and give a safer space which abides by the forum rules.
When we say we pass things on, we actually do. We write up reports and send on links and screenshots to provide as evidence.
Sometimes we are unable to communicate about things but do our best to ensure that we are still listening. I can 100% feel your frustrations and as long as they are put in a constructive matter without swearing and hurling insults, we try even better to make people heard.
I know as we continue and we don't have the steady communications many of you are after, frustrations will rise again, but as long as we are abiding rules there will be no need for closing threads.
It makes me think about a certain species that is angry towards a certain deity because this deity is quiet and when it finally speaks and stablish some rules the species decides to disagree anyway...Originally Posted by UbiT00n Go to original post
@ubitoon got a great idea to "untoxify" the place, and bear with me its a shocker i know, how about you actually develop an acceptable GHOST RECON game that you put adequate effort and developer time into instead of robbing the long standing fans with some half-baked melting pot of barely implemented ideas. Another thing that could go towards making the community happier is if you were more open on the direction you are taking the game (i know a little late now with support likely ending after OP Motherland) The community is in a no less toxic state its just that they have moved on to better products and stopped complaining to wilfully deaf developers.
On a side note i would like to add, when you are a community representative and the community is unhappy with something you have to expect to take flak its essentially part of your job description as we have nobody else to vent our frustrations to. Also working for a dev like ubi you should expect a large amount of negativity due to the dev practices and recently poorly received, under developed games i mean that would just be common sense more than anything else and if any of your community managers dont like it they should probably seek a different dev to be working for.
So, let me understand this better, if when you reply to a post, you speak the truth in a sarcastic/ironic kind of way and not in a positive, singing Kumbaya and praising the studio and the company, that said reply/response/post is considered Spamming or Trolling?
Communications is a two way street and when you charge for something and don't back it up, or even worse, brake it without so much as an apology for doing so, you are bound to have people with fork and pitches ready for an uproar. The fact that this place is toxic (I see it more as an adult reality) is not because of the members, I hope you do realize that.
Extending infractions just because it suits you or because you don't like the tone of the response or because it goes against the studio doesn't make it a right one but so be it, it is your sandbox after all but know this, getting rid of those who anger you the most will not make this game any better. Also remember, if it wasn't for those that anger you, this game with Gear Score only would be seriously buried right now... Just saying.
Hey!!
No not at all, I actually encourage people to tell us what they do and DON'T like about the game and how they think it could be better. We also encourage people to tell us when something isn't working as it should so we can flag it as early as possible. The thread that was closed tbh was classed as spam/ trolling because it just didn't seem to be doing anything except pick up conversation that would not lead to any productivity.
We do have forum rules though that everyone should abide by when posting![]()
They are there for a reason.
Cheers
Ubi-Toon
It's not the community managers fault though. Blame the developers and the higher-ups of Ubisoft. I'm not going to vent my frustrations out on someone who doesn't deserve it or aren't at fault.
We're all still here because we want the series to be better, hopefully if they make another it'll be what we all have been wanting.
Well then, I am literally befuddled as to the why I get slapped in the wrist then because that is exactly what I did... reply to a post with my personal opinion of the game while at the same time trying to help the OP with my personal answer. Was I helpful? I don't really know TBH but I did not see the OP protesting or replying to my post angry or otherwise.Originally Posted by UbiT00n Go to original post

I fully know that I am not the Angel of you guys's devotion and just like most here, can get a bit hotter around the collar but believe you me, if I didn't have the franchise's best in mind, I would be out of here w/o any help from the CMs.
Ubi: *pokes people in the eye*
People: *scream out in pain*
Ubi: "Stop screaming! Your toxicity is making this an uncomfortable place."
With absolutely no disrespect intended to you as a fellow human being T00n, the methods you are using are not wrong, but they are certainly not the right methods and they do more to reinforce the cause of the toxicity. Sadly, it's a lost cause for all involved.
I got a temp ban after explaining an issue, providing evidence of the issue, and having multiple ubi reps misaddress, deflect, and straight up lie in their responses. I had to deal with a whole team of apathetic, ignorant, and obstinate reps to try and get them to even acknowledge an issue Paris created through incompetence. The reason for my ban: I summed up that exact description by using only 1 word "Jack***es"
Here we are a year later, and we get the exact same behaviors and responses from ubi reps... but now instead of simply saying "jack***es" I have to type out every other word associated with the definition.
I've had threads locked for reasons like the subject of this OP. "Unconstructive". The most recent thread of mine that was locked was questions regarding an ongoing issue directed at our newest Ubi rep. The guy who showed up to say "Hello, I'm your new community developer" just to not make a single other appearance or interact with the community at all. Talk about "unconstructive".
It's really no surprise that when Ubi wants to target toxicity, they miss the mark. After all, we've seen how good they are at aligning sights.
