I feel like the matchmaking system may have better luck gauging "skill levels" (as we all know, the skill ratings really don't mean anything) after this change. Obviously I can't say for sure, but I do wonder.
If it doesn't, not a big deal. We've dealt with it this long already lol.
As for any "unforseen issues", they will be addressed separately as they appear.
Btw guys, I realize I can be quite intense. I am not ignorant to that fact. If you can look past how intensely I say things and instead, just take the information I'm trying to give, you'll realize I'm not as I appear...
man, I read all you posted and the others, today I received my first shot of covid vaccine, and I´m not feel well, but I´m in the range of expected secondary effects.
So , it was somewhat difficult to digest, I still think OS should go , but I will concede that maybe after a process of standarization (cause some chars are miles ahead of others at it)maybe Zone OS can stay, I cannot debate that great as you cause my english is not the best, is actually crappy, so I just will say that I would prefer a cleaner version of for honor, my final answer depends on if the devs support it. If it is truly unhealthy then I think it needs to be changed so you can’t do that. You should have to properly read your opponent rather than doing the same thing every time to confirm a counter to the majority of follow ups. I can react to most attacks and mixes, so maybe the lack of OS will result in a direct benefit to me, But I´m speaking from a point of view using assassins like PK(is really tiring to do light after feint with her) or nuxia, so thats why I can concede the benefit of doubt to at least the zone option select being standardized, I agree with saint yeets that in the current situation , I do not like option selects, even if I know how to do them and already did in the past.
Anyway great exposition of your points, in my case is not stuborness but I really want for honor being friendlier with beginners and at the same time be coherent with the CCU, but if the devs think they are healthy well , they will need to first educate the playerbase and to make OS balanced for all the roster.
edit: I think we know what is the position of devs with the news of TG.
"It is important to note that Zone Option Select, the most prevalent Option Select in the game (due to its ease of use) is also affected by this change. We are aware that some players advocate for keeping Zone Option Select in the game while removing the other, more egregious forms of Option Selects; in this case, our tech also disables Zone Option Select in general. We see this as a good thing as Zone Option Select effectively removes a layer of possible balancing we can use on Zone Attacks in general - when Zone Option Selects are present, Zone Attacks fall into 2 categories: Strong (because you can use them to Option Select) or Weak (because you can’t). This prevents us from using Stamina costs as a balancing lever on Zone Attacks. The removal of Zone Option Selects also lowers the efficiency of some specific Zone Attacks (Black Prior and Gladiator’s, more precisely) due to their state as a Bash, which made them especially strong as Option Selects as the typical counter (feint into Parry) cannot work against them." from the TG info page.
So well, I hope this is for the greater good.
My take away from their comment was that regardless of how they may or may not feel about how zone os specifically effects combat as a whole their current tech wouldn't be able to ignore it so its axed as well. And that zone OS's existing made it difficult to balance zone attacks themselves.Originally Posted by MayanKingGaming Go to original post
I still don't agree with their removal. But I'm glad they're looking to buff zones since zone os is being removed which is honestly follow through that I didn't believe Theyed do. And I'm glad that their wording didn't reflect a lot of the whinging that comes from the people who are pretty ignorant to how the game is as a whole.
Hopefully they'll also buff those underperforming unblockable mix ups as well so we can legitimately say that unblockable offense as a whole is better instead of pretending it is because the devs removed the OS boogie man.
Also grats on your first shot. Second one was the one that messed me up personally.
Im looking forward to hopefully zone attack stam costs being lowered to that of normal heavy attack ranges. Allowing all zones to chain to the rest of a characters kit and such. Making zone attacks a sort of alternate attack that can be used from neutral or in chain. We will have to wait and see what comes next for zones. And as I said I hope the implications of all option selects including zone being gone dont affect gameplay too heavily. I expect alot more unblockable mixups to start to be better slowly and surely. I will say that with these changes some looks into 4v4 modes and ganking as a whole will have to come. Not only in Feats, which should have been done already, but in gank potential of some characters now that a decently reliable tool was just stripped from us with these changes. I will say ive always been more of a duels player over a 4s player personally. Its just what I enjoy more mainly because Im not the biggest fan of feats in general. If they ever revamped breach to become an actual good 4v4 objective game mode id be all over it though lol.

They will still be able to stuff your mix up with the bash just as any other zone can. They specifically went out of their way to mention this when talking about it on the den. So Glad's zone is still going to be very strong defensively. He just doesn't get to parry with it as well. I don't think that will hurt him very much. Or Conq for that matter.Originally Posted by Goat_of_Vermund Go to original post
