My idea for a new viking hero would be a hybrid (vanguard-assassin mix) called the Fénnid. This hero would be an Irish warrior who has an alliance with the vikings (just like the Highlander). Feel free to check out https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fianna for more info, but the short version would be that a fénnid is a member of a small band of warriors called a fiann.
Key visuals:
>Plate and leather armor.
>Would have male and female options for the gender.
>In terms of height/size, he’d be somewhere around heroes like the Warden.
Weapon(s):
Spear
Themes/concepts:
>Jack-of-all-trades feel of a vanguard, who specifically excels in eliminating other heroes and supporting the front lines.
>Irish warriors that have an alliance with the vikings.
Fighting style/moveset:
>Quick and agile.
>Long reach/good at keeping enemies at bay
>Would primarily use jabbing/thrusting and sweeping attacks.
>Light attacks would be jabs/thrusts and heavy attacks would be sweeps (from the left and right at least).
>Light chain would be 3 hits (from neutral or locked).
>Another chain can be LLH.
>The heavy attack at the end of this chain could maybe be unblockable from the top.
>After performing a heavy attack, hold guardbreak to kick the enemy away similarly to https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.n...FA4079A1467E1/.
>This can be followed up by a forward-dodge attack.
>After performing a parry, he can do an unblockable light attack similarly to https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.n...9D8232472883B/.
>For a sprint attack he can do something similar to the Lawbringer; he charges at you with the spear and pushes you back several feet.
>The zone attack would roughly be the same as the Valkyrie’s: swings the spear left and right.
Possible feat options:
The ones in bold are my top choices for each tier, but feel free to comment if you think another one would be better.
>Tier 1:
>Rush: trigger to gain movement speed for a short duration
>Body count: killing a soldier grants you health and stamina (passive)
>Bounty hunter: gain health and stamina when you kill another hero (passive)
>Deadly: attacks deal more damage (passive)
>Tireless: lose stamina at a lower rate (passive)
>Iron lungs: you can still sprint when out of stamina (passive)
>Tier 2:
>Marked for death: reveal target position and lower its attack and defense
>Inspire: nearby allies deal more damage, and soldiers fight faster
>Thick skin: gain moderate damage reduction (passive)
>Winner’s advantage: gain a temporary buff after a successful attack (passive)
>Doom banner: nearby enemies have lower defense and attacks while within range
>Tier 3:
>Javelin: throw a javelin for moderate damage
>Battlecry: increase ally damage and makes enemy soldiers flee
>Sharpen blade: attacks inflict low damage over time
>Fury: raise sprint speed slightly and attack and defense greatly
>Tough as nails: raises max health when unlocked (passive)
>Second wind: recover some of your health
>Tier 4:
>Champion’s aura: gain an aura which heals you and nearby allies
>Fire flask: throw a projectile creating a fire area of effect
>Scout: all enemies are marked for death and show up on radar
>Fear itself: enemies around you have lower stamina regeneration and defenses
>Morale booster: improve the attacks of nearby allies for a short duration
>Regenerate: regenerate your health when out of combat (passive)
Possible perk options:
These are my top choices (with the one in bold being their default perk), but feel free to comment if you think another one would be better. Keep in mind that vanguards tend to have offensive and/or defensive perks, heavies and hybrids tend to have defensive and/or assist ones, and assassins tend to have offensive ones. However, there are some exceptions to this, such as the Tiandi, who has assist perks.
>Galestorm: upon hero kill, gain 20% movement speed for 10 seconds
>Remedy: upon hero kill, heal +10 health
>Radiant rebound: upon spawn or when revived, gain 20% movement speed for 10 seconds
>Endurance: when gaining a renown level, receive 3% stamina cost reduction (max 4 gains)
>Last stand: when in critical health, gain 40% damage resistance
>Head hunter: for each unique player/bot hero executed, increased max health +4 (max 4 increases)
>Fresh focus: when out of stamina, counter guardbreaks, blocks, and parries regenerate 20% stamina
Signature ideas:
>The Fénnid raises his spear in victory.
Execution ideas:
>The Fénnid leaps into the air and twirls his spear a few times, he then dives at the enemy and impales them in the chest similarly to https://i.pinimg.com/originals/00/69...65efb21e23.gif.
>The Fénnid uses his spear to pole vault towards the enemy and impales them in the chest similarly to https://pa1.narvii.com/6349/0ec31e70...143cd8b_hq.gif.
>The enemy charges at the Fénnid, but he simply just holds out his spear and the enemy runs into it at the last second, getting impaled through the heart. The Fénnid then pulls out his spear.
>The Fénnid stabs the enemy in their foot and then punches them once, and they fall to the ground dead. He then removes the spear from their foot.
>The enemy falls to their knees, then the Fénnid impales them in the chest. He then kicks them off of his spear.
>The Fénnid twirls his spear a few times, then swings it and cuts off the enemy’s head.
Other info:
>Some ideas for names for legendary-level gear:
>An armor set called
Rígfénnid. This is what the leader of a fiann was called, and it literally means “king-fénnid.”
>A weapon or armor set called
The Hound. This would be named after Cú Chulainn (
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%BA_Chulainn), a hero and demigod from Irish mythology, whose name means “Culann’s Hound” or “Hound of Culann.”
>A weapon set called
Gáe Dearg. This is a red-colored spear that belonged to Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diarmuid_Ua_Duibhne), another character (and fénnid) from Irish mythology.
>A weapon set called
Gáe Buidhe. This is a yellow-colored spear that also belonged to Diarmuid.
