For those of us reading the forums for the information contained in them, rather than to admire the the layout on purely aesthetic grounds, I would think that the problem is obvious:

This isn't quite as high on my list of "designers who are going to hell" as whoever did those Windows dialogue boxes where what they're showing you would fit on your screen but they give you only a tiny window that you must scroll and scroll and scoll, but those two designers will probably be neighbours. They can discuss designs like this through a text chat system that shows not a whole message or even sentence at a time, but only one letter at a time. As with all good designs, you will be able to use a keyboard shortcut (Shift-Alt-Ctrl-Windows-F6/F7) instead of clicking a button to see the next or previous letter. It will be surrouned by a beautiful border with curved corners and drop shadows and so on.
Is that the view I've shown above, or is there something more compact one can set? (I looked through the Settings page and didn't see anything related to this.)Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
I think you have the default card view. You have to use this toggle for list view:Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post
Click on the three dots at the top right of the forum to open the options sidebar.
Oh, I totally missed that in that menu. I suppose I got as far as "Settings," clicked on that, and it never occured to me that there would be more settings outside the Settings menu.Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
Anyway, that does make a huge difference, bringing it to about the same density:

I also notice that in the new forums clicking on the title takes you to the last unread post, rather than to the first post as this forum does. Clicking o the speech bubble goes to the first post. I'm not sure if this is quite as intuitive, but I prefer it as the most frequently used option should have the biggest clickable area.
Yeah, it's why I rolled my eyes at the large font comment.Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post
I agree clicking on the title is more convenient than having to target the FFWD symbol currently.I also notice that in the new forums clicking on the title takes you to the last unread post, rather than to the first post as this forum does.
