Anyone else having difficulty with Ubisoft Connect messaging?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has any info about this. Since the last Ubisoft connect update, there is a yellow dot on the chat icon when I launch Ubisoft connect. I get a pop-up window that says I have 5 unread messages, but when I click the chat icon it's just Division 2 players I had previously, randomly joined.

There is no message for any of them, just their user names and an "Add to friends" option. I imagine they may have sent a friend request, but there is no option to delete these "messages".

Anyone else experiencing this or know how to actually get rid of these messages/notifications?

Edit: There is a little x which removes them from the list, but the chat icon still has the yellow notification dot and the list is repopulated with the same players names and "Add to friends" option, along with the "You have 5 unread messages" notification window every time I launch Ubisoft Connect.

Yes, I have had this for the last couple of days and it's very annoying. It's not a result of people sending friend requests, it appears that Ubisoft Connect just generates these automatically when you play with people outside your friends/clan (maybe after a minimum time limit or something), presumably to encourage you to make friends with them (although it's separate from the 'friend suggestions' that appear in the Friends tab). I've had a look through the options and can find no way to turn this 'feature' off.

As you said, it's impossible to mark the messages as 'read', and deleting the message only works until you next launch Connect, when they reappear along with any new ones. I shepherd and matchmake for random missions quite frequently, so when this appeared a couple of days ago it was just 8 messages, yesterday it was 14 and today it's 20. Clearly it's rapidly going to become completely unmanageable, I'll just have to hope noone tries to send me a real message using that interface, or I'll never see it.

Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what's happening to me. I was shepherding as well. I have gone as far as sending a friend request to one of them. That get's them off the list temporarily, but then I canceled the request and they are right back into the message pool.

Hopefully Ubisoft sort it out, but I'm sure it will take a good, long while.

Funnily enough, there is a message that "Chat is disabled for non-friends." So, I guess you have to friend someone just to see if they actually left you a chat message. How ridiculous! What if they just want to trash-talk? We have to befriend them just to see what they had to say (if anything)?

    Who approves these processes?

Yeah, there appears to be some corruption in the last update wherein 'recently played with', etc., gets erroneously tagged as a new message. Clearing the list is ineffective; the new message notification on the chat button persists, and the process repeats on your next Connect loading.

"Friends and groups" > "Friend suggestions" is also corrupt; no option to delete, only "Add to friends".

It might be prudent for a CR/CM to move this once again, into Connect Player Support.

Based upon chronological events, and partial remedial measures which occurred in another game, Steep, in which a significant volume of paid DLC and others items were made inaccessible to consumers (sources: 1, 2, 3) , and still are to this day, said partial remedial measures may be the culprit.

Thanks for the info. It really seems that Ubisoft is asleep at the wheel.

Yes, I have same situation. First I have 10 randon players to my chat and now it is 18 new messages to random players and its growing. I think I'm doing every step to fix that problem, but its not gone.

Yup, same here. The number of chats went from 3 to 6 today. Can't close or remove them. I did block 3 of those accounts, but the chat still pops up.
