Honestly i use it in my sniper build since it also helps buff my Big Horn so it becomes an better AR and rifle, so it lets me have a sniper for spamming with the SVD, one for elites to die in one shot with the TAC-50, and BH for cleaning mobs and veterans. I think that A&8 also suffers from ammo since most people tend to use and SVD and Bolt action at the same time meaning both eat the same ammo type and SVD does eat more ammo for longer fights

Then weeks or months later I forget how bad it was and try again thinking maybe I'm misremembering how bad it was. Is there some high end loadout that takes away the sponge? Is it possible to create a sniper build that one taps red/purple and 2 taps elites?

I do love snowy NYC though - which is probably why I keep giving it chance after chance.
Sponge? In TD1? You running Classy gear? bosses drop in a clip or two at most unless in Legendary. You can make a sniper build that will one tap lots of stuff in there as well. Ill try to remember to see what my sniper build was, thinking it was Sentry but it was powerful for sure. The controls are def wonky at times though.

I'm confused, which do you like more? I played D2 before every playing D1, and when I went to try and play D1 the movement and gun play was one of the reasons why I was turned off from D1 so much. The camera also does some weird movements every now and then.

Overall I feel like there's a LOT more to do in 1 than 2, and the graphics are so much better in 1, but the QOL is muchhhhh preferred in 2 from my perspective.

    Make it hard in PvP.
    2pc - same plus 10% weapon handling
    3pc - 40% Hazard protection and 40% pulse resistance.
4pc - the same, but amplified damage per bonus armor can be buffed to 1.25% per 2% of bonus armor, of up to 25% bonus armor. (max amplified damage would be 15.6%)
Chest - Resetting the cool down to your armor kit to 10 seconds (TTK is so short that it could be 8), and allows for 5% additional amplified damage per bonus armor max (from 25% to 30%), and 7.5% additional haz pro.
Backpack - same, adds usage of hackstep protocol will cleanse you of status, also allows for 5% additional amplified damage per bonus armor (now 35%), and 7.5% haz pro.
Wearing both the bag and vest - change the amplify damage multiplier from 1.25% to 1.75%, and 10% additional haz pro for 65% total.
I changed some of your suggestions, and really tried to think about how to help solo farmers against being bullied, but not allow those same benefits when running in a goup.

Considering a way of gaining bonus armor with something like Adrenaline Rush, which stacks with the more enemies around you, that would help this set against multiple rogues, but not help a team of rogues as much against a single player/farmer. But you would need it to proc bonus armor like Addy Rush, which the set currently doesn't do.

I also think you could make the bonus armor also proc off the number of enemies within a 20m radius, so hit it, and no matter what, you get 100% bonus armor, if 1 hostile player is within 20m, you get 125%, 2 hostile players 150%, etc. Maybe it even scales down depending upon the number of players in your group, or non-hostile players within that same distance. So if you have 3 others that you are grouped up with, you get 105%/110% for 1/2 hostile enemies within 20m instead of the 125/150%.

Lots of ways to change that one, that I think has so much potential.

TD2, by a country mile. I play both on Ultra/2k, and TD2 also looks far better to me too - TD1 looks like an Xbox 360 game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't even bring myself to get through the campaign because the gameplay is incredibly unfun.. though maybe I'll get around to pushing through and ask a friend to carry/farm me. Sounds like some builds can offset the glaring issues - thanks!

Tbh weapon choice can make a big difference on sets.

Ongoing directive with the Carnage LMG? Dirty. I run Summit a lot with that build and outside on robo dogs, the setup absolutely destroys groups of enemies, especially when paired with BTSU gloves and a stinger hive.

Strikers, I found rocking a Bullet King LMG works really well. Especially with the set out to use CC/CD and weapon handling to keep the nose steady on the weapon.

I miss my Classified Predators Mark build man....watching whole UG rooms clear. Sigh. Firestarter was a cool build. Tacticians.

Remember in Div 1 where seekers actually seeked enemies out and not just roll to their last known position and exploded uselessly while said enemy casually walked away from the explosion area?

It allows you to reach higher damage numbers with Headhunter than A&8s while being easier to proc, easier to maintain, working with weapons other than snipers if you happen to use a backup and generates spec ammo on top.

    A&8s: 24,596,328
    ToTS: 25,618,854

The only time A&8s wins as far as I can tell is when using a semi-auto sniper with Focus instead of Headhunter (4.59M A&8s vs 3.56M ToTs w/ SVD) or the set chests, but at that point you'd be better off using a rifle build instead - staying out of cover so much without the benefit of a shield to maximize Focus isn't exactly viable. Not to mention semi-auto snipers become damn near unusable with ammo directives turned on.

Edit: Having thought about it some, A&8s could be decent and semi-autos made legendary/directive viable with something as simple as "Headshots return a round to the magazine" or better yet "Headshot kills refill your magazine" getting baked into the 4 piece bonus. Maybe add an extra handling buff while Dead Man's Hand is active.

I was writing up a reply for this with some further questions, but that's probably better done in a separate thread. So in case you're not checking, perhaps you could have a look at Thoughts on Ongoing Directive and reply to my questions there.

yeah, its def slow in the campaign after playing TD2, dang LZ is a barren wasteland but the sets def do get better and much more fun. You wanna see a real flame turret, TD1 is the answer. Seeker mines that actually seek, also TD1. I tested my sniper out last night to make sure i wasnt misremembering and i wasnt. My Sentry Classy one taps all reds and most purples, two tap most bosses other than the big boys but you can two tap them if you blow them up. Even had fun in the DZ for awhile helping a newbie extract some things while a pesky rogue kept showing up.

I think I'm at level 28, so I'll just power through.. because I think that Sentry build would make it a lot more enjoyable to play, and I do enjoy the setting a lot. Thanks the info!
