Well thread got locked due necro and since people honestly don't have anything else to do while waiting for months, might as well restart this thread since i don't think much changed since then (https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...orst-gear-sets)
Case in point the voted 3 worst gear sets at that moment wereRoughly a week ago i made a vote to see what where the worst gear sets (https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...worst-gear-set). As of the moment i am posting on this thread these are the top 3 worst gear sets in the game by random forum votes
It was mostly as i expected (but i didn't expect tip of the spear to reach the 4th place wiht only one vote from the 3rd and system corruption to be right up there). But anyhow now the question is "What now?" we have some idea of what are the worst ones, but what should we do with them? scrap 'em, buff 'em , replace them by other division 1 gear sets? As people say knowing is half the battle now is the time to see how you propose to fix those

Now having gone back and played Div 1, they were all OP compared to hexpo (highend-exotic) builds in that game. 6pc Striker gave a decent amount of healing for sustainability, and the damage was much better to NPC's than it seems to be in D2. Nomad was not nerfed to the ground, and can still do decent damage, and that was the "never die" build. Gearsets are just more fun/stronger in 1, which is why they are a thing. It's also why they are NOT a thing in 2 outside of a few that are strong enough to be meta.
I think with the introductions of gear brands in 2, it took away the importance/strength of gearsets, because from what I can see, most gearsets have always been under-preforming in 2. Rarely is a gearset the best build for something.
I kind of wish that classified bonuses were still a thing, but understand that there needs to be a little more freedom than it would be possible to do with given how the attributes are set up in 2 vs 1. For instance, in 1, in a classy build, you can still get specific weapon type damage, but in 2 that wouldn't be possible because it's a brand attribute, which means you couldn't roll AR/SMG/Shotgun/etc on to a classy build.
It's kind of shocking how much of a departure 2 is from 1 having gone back and played it, and I can understand why so many people jumped over to 2, and went back to 1 not long after giving it a try.
I said this back in the original thread, but all it would take to fix strikers would be to remove the penalty of losing stacks when you miss a target, and instead have stacks fall off over time(probably a short window). There are already many buffs that stack up and lose over time. There are already talents such as Obliterate that stack on hits and drop off as well.Originally Posted by xcel30 Go to original post
As it stands, Striker is a dead 4-piece set. Literally NO ONE uses it in an end-game build outside of noobs that don't know how broken it is.
Aces & Eights I don't necessarily agree with it being bad. It's not that the set itself is bad, but rather that MMRs and bolt-action sniping is bad in general. It's like the devs were afraid of their NPCs being one-shot under any circumstance, so they neutered sniping to compensate. So the solution is not to fix A&8s, but to unf**k sniping.
Ongoing Directive has a similar problem: Bleed on NPCs is a bad status effect in general. There are other problems that exacerbate that issue, such as the way Hollow Points are generated, and the simple fact that some of the most dangerous targets in the game(Chungas and dogs) are either literally or effectively immune to bleed. Change the Hollow Point buff to a unique damage-over-time effect similar to the Pestilence debuff, and make the collection/acquisition of Hollow Points on kill to have more utility, and the set would likely be fine.
Frankly, I'm still shocked that Tip of the Spear didn't make the top thee. But it seems like people "feel" their niche build using it is fine. But there's a damn good reason why you never see that set in any high-end content.
I consider A&8s to be bad purely because ToTS is objectively better at filling the exact same role and then some.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
I still consider Striker worse though.
How is TotS better at sniping than A&8s?Originally Posted by Kanaima Go to original post
This will forever remain a mystery to me. I keep feeling like I'm missing something, but everytime I play, I find myself annoyed by the movement/controls, then quiting when an elite takes many, many mags. Can't get past the sponge. Then weeks or months later I forget how bad it was and try again thinking maybe I'm misremembering how bad it was. Is there some high end loadout that takes away the sponge? Is it possible to create a sniper build that one taps red/purple and 2 taps elites?Originally Posted by TxDieselKid Go to original post
I do love snowy NYC though - which is probably why I keep giving it chance after chance.
A&8 is considered bad, because people remember when it used to buff your teammates. Then Headhunter made it nearly irrelevant. Add back the team aspect and I bet you'd see it more.
Agree on removing the penalty being an easy fix for Strikers, and the dot damage replacing bleed for OD. I'd probably use a loadout slot for each if that happened.
Hey agents. These are my thoughts about all sets.
True patriot.
Overall - it's bad. The idea is ok, but bonuses are pretty boring and weak. SO here we go:
2pc - 5% Weapon damage.
3pc - 30% mag size boost
4pc - the same, except Explosion radius is now increased by the amount of your crit chance stat (up to 60% for radius).
Chest piece - Rotation of flags should be replaced with "When enemy with all 3 flags die, it will spread flags to 2 random oponents in 15 meters radius"
Backpack - Flags are buffed. Red: 8% to 12% White: 2% to 6% Blue: 8% to 12%. Shooting the target with all 3 flags by you increase those bonuses by 1.5 (so 18% damage and 9% regen).
For balancing, armor regen can proc once per 2 seconds for each player.
Ongoing directive.
Make it BLEED!!!
2pc - increase reload speed by 20%. Increase bleed damage by 100%.
3pc - increase status effects by 30%. Increase weapon damage by 5%.
4pc - Holo points stuff is the same. But also - Holo points mark the enemy for 3 seconds, increasing bleed damage by 300%.
Chest piece - same. Plus Increase all your damage to bleeding targets by 10% (amplify).
Backack - increase the duraion of the mark to 5 seconds and damage bonus to 500%.
Basically, it will drastically increase the damage of your bleeds as long as you are shooting the target. A massive boost.
Striker gear set.
It's alright but here are some tweeks.
2pc and 3pc - same.
4pc - Same, but additionally every stack increase your Armor on kill stat by 1000 armor. So, it's 50k at max stacks. Nice little bonus for survivability.
Chest - Increase max amount of stacks up to 25.
Backpack - increase damage per stack to 0.75 and AoK to 1.5k
The damage will be overall the same, but you'll also get some boost in survivability and rush potential.
System Corruption
Make it hard in PvP.
2pc - same plus 10% weapon handling
3pc - 30% Hazard protection and 40% pilse resistance.
4pc - the same, but damage per bonus armor can be buffed to 2% per 5% of bonus armor (up to 40%)
Chest - Instead of flat decrease ic CD, i suggest to give you 20% bonus armor per kill plus resetting CD to your armor kit (with cd of 10 seconds for that reset).
Backpack - same. But also usage of that protocol will cleanse you.
It will be very good for fast PvP rush (and not broken as LD + Int combo).
A&8
Everything is fine to me, except Backpack. It should be like that. Headshot kill with amplified shot reset the "charge" and increase your HSD by 50% for 10 seconds.
Regenerates ammo for the TAC-50 and also buffs it, meaning if you play sniper spec you can use it more often and buff all your weapons, since lots of people like using the SVD for sniping also it technically lets you have a very heavy sniper with cooldown ammo and regular ammo for SVD, buffing the other weapon you have in hand is also usefulOriginally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
That seems like more of a side-grade than an outright better option. But I'l defer to the more experienced snipers on this, since I think sniping in general is in a terrible place in Division 2.Originally Posted by xcel30 Go to original post
