I don't like the duel mode.
I have no problem going 1v1. Even because I go 1v1 in Dominion several times, and it doesn't bother me.

I confess that what I really like is the fact that it is a team mode, and there are other primary objectives, besides the direct fight.

And I like the change of circumstances, where sometimes we are numerically advantaged, sometimes disadvantaged.
I like the tactical and strategic component of deciding between several options.

While it's been said that duelists are the experts, I think playing Dominion and Breach takes more than just being a good duelist. There is a lot of strategy and tactics, which imply a quick decision power.

Of course, being the most played mode, it attracts a lot of players from many different levels and there are those who don't handle ganks well. And understand that there is cowardice. But even in Ganks, you need to know how to manage.

Sometimes things go very well, sometimes things go very wrong.
That's why I always say, I'm an Average player. And I'm comfortable with that. ;D
I dueled so much in FH's early years partially because of how messy FH was in it's first few seasons but also because I didn't have knowledge. I was very much someone who could play the reaction game till CCU happened. So it was a bit fun to bully people who just couldn't react. (I mean there's a reason why Centurion was my main and the only dude I really played till much later in FH.) But after digging into the comp side of things and learning much more about the game duels just don't interest me anymore. It's still nice to make those reads and punish someone who isn't. But it's not the same satisfaction as say making a critical call that ends up swinging the match in your favor.

I don't think anyone calls duelists experts at this point. FH might have had some competitiveness in duels early on but I think that was more on 4's being a proper mess and the game's combat being a general mess for way too long. FH doesn't have the mechanical complexity or depth to be an interesting 1v1 game from a competitive standpoint. Even if every hero ended up having workable offense and reactionary play was next to non existent. And that's fine. 4's was the core design of this game from the get go.

The only reason i've ever claimed to be above average is purely because I understand the game better than a regular player. I often spent time DMing people I fought in duels to give them tips against heros in the earlier years. However my knowledge does not carry me anymore. Being able to know what I know isn't beneficial if I haven't the consistency to capitalize on it.

Well yeah light into feint into gb doesn't catch a lot of dodge attacks. Try having them block a heavy and then do feint into gb. You'll notice you'll start catching dodges like hito, gryphon, and kensei.

That is one of the worst arguements I've ever read.

Cent: light, light, heavy feint, parry.

    Look I fixed your problem.

There is a big difference between "performing a single action that can counter multiple options" VS "performing multiple actions in a single input".

Performing one action that can shut down multiple fronts of offense is fine.

A single input that performs multiple possible actions, where the game decides which one is correct depending on scenario? That's just stupid.
