Windows desktop becomes totally unusable after I exit from Far Cry 5.

This looks like some display driver issue, but it is happening only with Far Cry 5: after having launched Far Cry 5, when I return to the windows desktop (by pressing ALT-TAB when far-cry is still running or by simply closing the game) instead of returning to the desktop I return to a blurry/flickering green screen where the only thing that seems to be working is the mouse pointer: I see a distorted mouse pointer that responds to mouse movement, but anything else is totally green.

my pc has an AMD Ryzen 5950x CPU, 64G Ram and the graphics card is a nvidia GTX 1080 (i am a casual gamer... i need the spiced-up cpu and ram for my job, that's why I didn't upgrade to a faster gpu)

the resolution of the windows desktop (that should be restored when I close Far Cry 5) is 3840x2160 60Hz (i use a curved 4K 43'' inches samsung TV as a monitor)

since the desktop is totally unaccessible, the only way I found to do a clean shut down of the system is pressing "ctrl-alt-canc" while far cry is running and shutting down the pc from the blue screen that then comes up.

Has anybody else experienced this issue?

Edit: I can confirm that it is somehow caused by the windows desktop resolution: i just reduced it to 1920x1080, launched the game, and I am typing right now while the game is running (switched back here with alt-tab).

    so reboot

to me it sounds like a video driver issue

try a clean install of the drivers yet and yes try an older driver package on a gtx 1080 gpu

nvidia Optimization is now aimed at the 30 series
