I have the same if my Uplay software was running when I put my computer to suspend mode. Uplay needs minutes to detect that there is an internet connection, and after it does, the error is gone and I can proceed. So maybe you are facing the same problem. Just close Uplay (UbisoftConnect), open it again, start the game and see if the problem persists.
