    Savegame overwritten

Someone in the house wanted to test out the game, and started a new campaign. Little did I know(or they) that the game only have one save slot(wtf?). So now my save game is gone.

Cloud save synchronization was/is on. So when i start the game, it loads the new game. I reached out to Ubisoft and asked them if they could restore the savegame to an earlier point. They replied: "there is no way to recover the data".

After some research, i found this folder: "..ram Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\471edcbb--x-x-x-x".

This folder contains 10 folders, that are named with numbers. Each of them contains ".SAVE files". All the save files have different "Date modified" dates, some goes back to 2020. I'm guessing some of these files are related to my old save game?

So my question is: Is there somehow possible to force the game to load any of these save files?

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that you progress was accidentally saved over by a new game! While I'm unable to guarantee anything, I do recommend giving the following steps a try to see if you can get that progress restored. This >>guide<< is for restoring saves on PC, but it may help with restoring your progress.

if you need backed up saves grab my save file back up

instructions are in the .zip file
i have almost every mission from the game backed up

i DO suggest you always back up your own save data .. again instructions are in my .zip file
    https://www.filedropper.com/farcry4saves

each save consists of 4 small files
    1.save
    1.save.upload
    2.save
    2.save.upload

one is an auto save the other is a user created save point, the other ones are upload files that save to the cloud ,and it will always make those .upload files even if you shut off the cloud save option in Uplay settings

these will not work with a pirated copy of FarCry 4 you have to own the legit version

with the steam version of the game, saves your game to

    C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856

the Uplay only version they go in
    C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 420

to use these you do have to shut off the Uplay Cloud save option in the Uplay client settings .. but you should do this anyway, as it can create problems with a corrupted cloud save (it happened to me with FarCry 3 years ago and i had to delete my saved games and start the game all over , was the only way to fix it )

    open Uplay FIRST

go to settings and uncheck the option that says
Enable Cloud Save Sycronization for supported games

oh and ALWAYS before you start a new game go to that 856 (or 420 ) folder and clear out and delete the saves you have left in there ...BEFORE you start a new game , not doing so can make the game go a bit WONKY , like one time i did not clear that out.... and i had ZERO Pagans Wrath convoys appear at all in my game , and i was unable to unlock the vehichle take down Skill.

if you need to back up your own save files first see this webpage

    https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/c...iles/000063179

for a mission list ...go here to see where and how far you are in the game

    good luck hope it helps
