Chameleon is literally a Vector with fancy attachments. I'm not even sure why it's classified as an AR. I honestly think it's an error by the dev team or something.

I agree, Chameleon is a bit underwhelming. I wish it was a Vector with fancy attachments, but the rate of fire is lower by 1/4.
Also agree that Carbine 7 is one of the best. It's so damn rare to get a good one though, and that in a the context of rare drops anyway. I farmed every single activity in the AR targeted loot area yesterday and I didn't get one Carbine 7 drop (raining G36, P416, ACR and AKM, all the ones I already have and don't want). Things are complicated by the fact that they always come with the same talent and there is no blueprint (similar to Stoner LMG).
Another AR that I find good is the the Honey Badger. It has almost identical stats as Carbine 7, easier to get a good one, comes with the full range of random talents.

    For the Damage to Health

It was easier to give it SMG levels of CHC via attachment, than invent a DtH attachment.. all the CHC is the trade-off for the range/handling shortcomings.

Yea the Carbine 7`s droprate feels pretty rare. it took me a lot of grinding to get a decent Carbine 7 and a lot of grinding to optimize it.

Honey Bager feels to me more like an M4 instead of an Carbine 7, the Carbine 7 has basically the same stability of an P416 and an accuracy of an M4 maybe even better.

If i would go for pure accuracy and stability then i would choose the M4/Honey Bager over Carbine 7 but i like the Carbine better and imo the M4 skin feels outdated to me. Its a shame that the M4 is not look like that from Breakpoint, i've seen a true son with the same skin so its in the game, but that's an discussion for another topic

Carbine 7 with DTTOOC and a different talent is (IMHO) the strongest AR in the game. I prefer Optimist or In Sync depending upon what build/playstyle. I tried Ranger, but I don't like that it doesn't do much to up close NPC's. I have tested a LOT in the range (which I know is kind of janky, and only for PvE) and it outshines every other AR by a small margin in almost every build I have tested it in.

The only other 2 that deserve to be talked about in the conversation is the EB for the sustained DPS reason alone that the mag size allows, and the Famas for the burst DPS. Both are still not as strong bullet for bullet as the Carbine 7 though.

Yes, it's a GRINDDDDDD to find a great Carbine 7, but once you have one, you have the last AR you will need IMHO. It's is my raid AR, on my all red CHC/CHD build.

    Eagle Bearer.

Personally I prefer the Police M4 to either the Famas or Carbine 7. But the Carbine 7 is so stable that I wouldn't turn my nose up at it if I found one with good rolls.

What's the advantage of the Police M4? From a brief glance at the stats, it looks like the only difference (aside from perhaps minute ones in accuracy and stability) is that the Police M4 has a higher fire rate and lower damage (disadvantageous as far as ammo use goes) and very marginally more DPS (1.14% according to the spreadsheet).

While the M4 has better burstDPS [1%], the Carbine has better sustainedDPS [1%] and noticeably less bloom when firing. The reticle dot bounces more on the M4.

It's not a huge difference, but it is slightly better.
