Oh, right. Because the developers who write netcode for games, which is some of the most complex and difficult code in computing, either have no idea that RTT is related to performance or performance simply isn't one of their goals, and certainly not the main goal. That someone wouldn't understand that DNS is used (usually, not always) only to find the address of a machine on the Internet, and never when sending packets to or receiving them from that machine, is not unreasonable; most people don't know even the very basics of what's in an IP packet header (which is all you need to know to know that DNS doesn't make a difference there). But to claim that the developer of some code is ignorant to the point where he would be entirely unable to write that code at all is just absurd.
I can only go by what I am told & it appears, especially in the world today, it may not be reliable. My source on DNS info was from a Century Link field rep. Maybe we missed on the context. I have two lines that are 75 Mbits each. I am 400 ft to the main drop in the area. To get a Fiber drop from there I'm sure would be prohibitive. I have never ever experienced such poor response. Could it have been my ISP? Maybe, although UBI Massive can not be without question. You know, constant crashing after a not so long ago maintenance? At any rate everything is back to a near normal state. If I need more in-depth intranet info I'll know who to ask.CategoryTheory
When I'm trying to confirm issues like this, I just switch my computer to another router that connects to a second ISP over the same local loop. If you can set up something like that, you can see if your problem is the ISP or something else. If you can't, you probably have the problem because you have no competition for ISP services. :-/
Appreciate the replies.
I was pretty pissed off when I typed this as I logged out of the game after failing a mission due to controls. It was the same mission I'd left before quitting a while ago. Playing solo on either Heroic or Legendary difficulty (the one before the highest). The mission at the end has some armoured up guy with a mini gun & there's some emp turrets.
Screen refresh is 144Hz, not sure of the frame rate but controls were fine until this last area. Everything else was fine (shooting, healing, etc) it was just the vaulting & taking cover that seemed to purposely bug out to get me killed every time. Exactly why I stopped playing last time & it was still happening.
I'm using a "STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard CHERRY MX Red" so when I said "hammering" I really meant pressing hard & rapidly because single or double key presses weren't registering. The more annoyed I got, the more I was spamming the space bar & "C" key.
One of the most enjoyable missions I played solo was in a zoo with some women boss at the end. Never had as much problems with unresponsive controls as this mission although that one was more open. This particular mission is inside a building with lots of open areas even when taking cover, being shot from all sides. I was moving around a lot which is fine, but not with the controls being as clunky as they are.
The screen refresh rate is the cap on your frame rate, but is otherwise irrelevant. Even 60 Hz should be fine, though perhaps not as silky-smooth as 144 Hz could be.Originally Posted by Duske- Go to original post
Sounds like it's more you not dealing with the vault and cover controls in the way that the game wants, then. That's a matter of practice, after tuning your settings for these under the Settings menu....but controls were fine until this last area. I agree the game seems not always the greatest with the movement and cover mechanics, but that could well be my lack of skill with it, too.
I don't know.... Everything that's been described sounds exactly like what happens on my client when the connection is bad.
I really think that if the connection can be improved that the issues with movement and parkour will clear up.
Although I suppose it could just be a total disconnect between how the game plays and what the OP wants it to play like. That's always a possibility I guess.
Its very possible with me however I lean towards Ubisoft settings are in need of a finesse or code massage. I think I should be able to leave cover easily just by moving away. No extra space etc. On the other hand my player is a world class jumper. Straight up a few feet to a ledge or top of a truck with one leg, how great is that? Great enough to get her a** shot off! I'm sure that will not change however some movement could be related to frame rate. I'm at 60 but a large drop during heat of battle could be detrimental. A good gamer has a lot to consider when making a game playable. As usual our mileage may vary.Sircowdog1

Apparently enough people agree with you that this is an option in the settings. (Esc/top menu, Settings, Controls, Movement Can Exit Cover).Originally Posted by Rodnaz Go to original post
Not only that. There are several settings that can drastically change the way your agent interacts with cover, and the parkour system.Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post
But I also do want to really stress that executing interactions with the cover and parkour system is a skill you can improve on with practice. Don't mash buttons trying to interact with cover. Use finesse. Hit the cover button once. Don't panic and spam, because that's more likely to cause problems as the game tries to interpret all those interactions.
Play with the settings until the game works more like you expect it to. I know that I had to spend quite a bit of time playing with different settings until the movement and cover started to feel natural. But now I don't even hardly think about what I'm doing, it's so smooth.
Typically I keep parkour turned off except for the summit. I tweak & re-tweakSircowdog1

game play settings & always have. I've even adjusted standard settings when a game allows it. I've built my PC's since my first one. My last build was a mid range appx 5 years ago. Some game issues are likely related to this.. My GPU is satisfactory but Div 2 takes more than an above avg video card. Its on my to do list but time & parts availability are another matter.
