If I see any such respected players, I'll certainly pay attention to them.

In the meantime, Far Cry is a game series that can equally be played and enjoyed by new players as well as those who played the original Far Cry at launch (myself included).

That FC6 won't have a map editor does not take away the fun people have had with past games.
There's nothing to stop anyone opening up FC5 and playing/designing some more maps there (the engine hasn't changed after all).

Games evolve. FC6 won't have a thing, it'll have different things. Past FC iterations have been criticised for being 'samey'. One good way to not be 'samey' is by not being the same. I'm sure most of the dedicated Far Cry fanbase will be playing the next one.

ah well feel free to check out my concept map of Yara made in FC5. I guess it will be the last map I ever make and the only version of Yara I will ever play.

I made some maps in FC4, a couple of which rated well. I enjoyed it for quite a while but eventually lost inspiration and it became a slog. The FC5 map editor was a significant improvement, giving the us more AI control, scripting, environmental effects, and a huge increase in the number of objects. I can't speak to the MP map features because I'm not into that. Many of these improvements were in response to requests by serious mapmakers. One negative impact is that the skill and effort required to produce a "good" map also increased significantly. I made several false starts on FC5 maps but never published one. I played hundreds, however, some of which were very impressive.

I'm disappointed that FC6 won't include an editor but will definitely buy it for the solo campaign. All the promos I've seen to far have been encouraging.

Some mapping enthusiasts have expressed the hope that Ubisoft will release a free-to-play editor. It's hard to imagine why they'd do that and I'd expect the player base to be much smaller (relative to FC5) if it happened. What about making it FC6 DLC (including enough good maps to satisfy those who just want to play)? That would at least provide some revenue to justify the resource investment, and would also give another indication of how important the feature is to the FC community.

you need talk anyway, how many posts you gonna make about weapon customisations eh? which have about as much importance as the colour of the medkits.

My favorite bit here is when you accused me of being condescending, and then proceeded to be condescending.

why are you even commenting on a map editor post when you obviously have no interest in the map editor. you are like a guy who posts in game forums and dont even have that game. did you even make any maps in all of the far cry games that has a map editor?

Sorry mate but if you are not a map maker stick to the posts where you know something about it. if you havnt made a bunch of maps yourself then you are not entitled to comment on the omission of the map editor beause clearly it doesnt affect you in any way personally whereas I AM entitled because I give a damn.

The RPG elements, increased 3rd-person perspective and weapon selections are all big draws for many, myself included.

Though it is true that this increase comes at the cost of some players who were invested in the map editor.

It remains to be confirmed how many of the former are attracted at the expense of the latter. Time will tell.
Please support us by playing someone else's copy rather than paying for the game.

The entire goal IS to be disruptive. Ubisoft needs to know how royally they messed up
