A FIX for Odyssey Crashing Randomly

I found a Fix for this persistent Crashing every 5 to 30 mins in Odyssey

As I posted in my other thread .. it appears that Odyssey is not getting enough System/ Memory resources to run properly as they are being shared by Connect for its overlays, in-menu Adverts and sales pitches.. (Helix points, Season Pass sales and Other Ubi Product adverts)..

I think this is why we sometimes get 2 error messages reading "Connect has Crashed" and "Odyssey has Crashed"

    FIX..

I recommend Pausing any downloads, uploads or streaming you have going on..

Start Connect > Start Odyssey > Load/Run game > Pause game (Hit Esc) > Press Windows Key and/ or Open Task Manager..(Ctrl, Alt, DELETE)

Along the top of the task Manager you will see Tabs.. at the right hand side Click/Open DETAILS..

At the top of the list, Right Click AC Odyssey.. In the menu.. move the Mouse pointer to "Set Priority"..

You will see options. "Normal".. "Above Normal".. "High" .. "Realtime"..

Select "Above Normal" .. and close Task Manager and return and enjoy Odyssey...

If the game Crashes as usual.. Run through these steps again, except Set Priority "High"....

In the Priority list... from what I know "RealTime" is a system takeover.. and requires "Administrator" privileges , which means every single resource is given to the game.. but you shouldnt need to use this setting.. although some websites say you should use it, but before you do or your interested, read up on it for yourself..

This should now fix and stop the crashing, basically your telling your PC.. when your play.. Allocate more PC resources (CPU, GPU, Memory etc) to the game over everything else..

The downside with this is you have to do this EVERYTIME you start Odyssey.. even if you keep Connect open and change to another game, the Priority is reset..

You can try this for ANY game on your system thats crashing and If youve had to make a few changes to your PC just to run this game.. and this fix works, you can probably put your PC back to the way you like it..

I hope this helps anyone struggling... if it does, Reply to this thread and share it to others who play.. and I hope UBI look into and PATCH how Connect is allocating system resources to its UI Overlays and in menu adverts and not enough when the game is running.

    Have a Great day all

Anytime, Glad to help out UBI-TheBerry..

Because of the sheer number of different Crash threads Ive come across on the web (STEAM, Reddit, Ars Technica... to name just 3 of the many) before I realised what this issue could be .. Could you maybe share this thread/fix with the Odyssey/ Connect Dev Team to see if they can replicate then maybe fix it,... as having to set Windows Task Manager Priority every single game session can become abit tedious.. as this is only a temporary "workaround".

    Also a suggestion...

Maybe PIN this thread to the top of the Forum to try and cut down the number of Freeze/Crash threads that are filling up this forum on an almost daily basis.. at least until the DEV team can take a look.at the game..

    Have a great day..

    Hey there.

We can't pin the thread I'm afraid, we will however pass your feedback on to the team regarding this. We really appreciate you taking the time to share this with us and hopefully it will assist other players experiencing similar issues. Thanks!
