Do you drop rewarded items also when killed in the DZ?

So I love how fast you can level up and get those optimization items doing landmarks in the DZ, and admit I go in (mostly solo) for that alone.

I have accumulated enough crap in-game that it's once-in-a-blue-moon that something drops that even interests me, so to avoid the hassle of calling an extraction and drawing every wanna-be ganker in the DZ I usually pass on 99% of the contaminated gear that drops.

Even so, I'm still occasionally cornered by the same 4v1 gankers (probably when they notice a landmark turning red), of course they gang up and kill me.

None of that is news or surprising, but what I am asking about is that you can see in the dialog that "so-and-so stole your xxx," and if I didn't pick anything up what exactly am I dropping for them to steal?

I can only assume it's the items rewarded when I clear a landmark. Anything else?

Do you leave the items on the ground?
If so, it's rewarded items they pick up.
Or do you deconstruct contaminated items, instead of picking them up?
If so you get a dz credit per deconstructed item.
You can hold 25 credits per space in your dz bag.
You have to extract them as well.
That's probably what they picked up.

Just extract it, it's not always 4v1.
The other day I had 2 people coming to my extraction.
I was like alright little maggots, let's go then.
And instead of a 2v1 they... helped me extract???
    Tbf I was disappointed lol

You don't get items for clearing a landmark in Div 2.

I have extracted at times - if it's something worthwhile. I don't extract low-quality loot just to have more loot. I have plenty of that. Mostly I do get away with it too, excepting one time I think I had a perfect "Armor on Kill" gear mod that the gankers teamed up, killed me, cut the line and stole it. That was the only time I can think of that it was something I actually wanted and lost it.

I also have lots of DZ resources, which I am not actually even sure what to do with, so often I don't deconstruct contaminated stuff for even more.

No, in the cases I am asking about I had absolutely nothing in my Contaminated inventory; 0 of 10. But I still saw some dialog where one of the rogues that killed me stole something.

I recall in Div 1 if you were killed and had no contaminated inventory you dropped some DZ credits, but this wasn't like that. It was actual gear pieces, or weapons in some cases, and if I had 0 contaminated items I am trying to figure out what it is I dropped (that they stole).

Hmm, maybe you dropped an armor plate on death and someone picked that up.
If you had nothing on you I can't think of anything else then that, yea ammo lol

My only guess is awarded items from clearing landmarks, even though they aren't contaminated.

I never paid close enough attention to link one to the other, but will have to next time...just to see.

If you die in the DZ, you only drop what you've previously picked up from official loot sources.

Imagine if players had real loot tables, though.

    Here's another bit of evidence:

I was in a fairly empty DZ, clearing Landmarks. My primary goal was optimization mats and XP, and to finish a project while at it. I picked up nothing, but was killed (by NPCs) clearing a DZ, and there was a "Dropped Items" mark on my HUD. I approached and it was gear, so it must be rewarded gear.

Having said that, I cleared five landmarks and something new (to me) dropped: Devil's Due. It has a perfect variant of Clutch, so I picked it up (and some more gear) despite it having a lousy roll.

The DZ was pretty quiet so I had zero issue extracting that time, but will need a ton of Optimization mats to bring Devil's Due up to being worthwhile using.

P.S. I assume this is a DZ-only drop? Any chance it'll go into regular loot pool now that I've extracted one?

I'm pretty sure you do get contaminated loot drops as rewards from clearing landmarks, because I've spent a while clearing landmarks and marking everything I pick up as scrap, yet after deconstructing I'm always finding additional items in my inventory that aren't scrapped - they must be rewards of some kind, and clearing landmarks is the only activity I'd been doing.

Devils Due is a DZ-only named item, you can also get it from named item caches and presumably conflict caches, but it won't appear in the general LZ loot pool.

Whatever was in that bag, i assume it was most likely DZ credits that now need to be extracted
