A couple of hours ago I had one of the most ridiculous experiences during my time playing this game. I was playing a breach match with one of the most childish players I’ve ever encountered. This player was a kensei named IRB_WOLFMAN. The only thing he seemed to care about was being the one with the highest score (which he didn’t get), and he did whatever he could in an attempt to achieve this (particularly irritating/interfering with his teammates). Sadly I don’t have any footage, but I wish I did.
A majority of the time when my teammates and I (but mostly me) were about to kill an enemy hero, he would come out of nowhere and get the last hit, and the execution with it. There would be points were we clearly needed the execution so we could heal, and he would still take it.
In the second phase after the guardian was killed, I was the first one over to the pikemen and he arrived shortly after. Being a kensei, he has long sweeping attacks, so he kept hitting me and canceling my attacks. Then after all of the pikemen were dead he kept hitting me as a way to “encourage” me to go away. I then reported him for griefing. Apparently I missed the part where he thought he called dibs on killing the pikemen (and didn’t announce it).
During the third phase/commander fight, I died 2 or so minutes into fight and noticed that only one other player is helping me fight the commander and the enemy heroes. When I was spectating I noticed that the kensei and another teammate were just hitting each other like a bunch of children (this guy probably got tired of the kensei as well). I finally had enough and jumped on the mic and called them out on their BS, and told them to help kill the commander. When I respawned, the kensei sniped me with the ballista. It’s not like he accidentally hit me, because there were no enemies around me, so he purposely shot me. After that point I just left the match.
The ignorance, toxicity, and childishness of players is one of the biggest problems in this game. Breach is pretty much the only game mode that I still play with people and not bots. So if it wasn’t for the fact that bots aren’t smart enough to be effective teammates in breach, I would probably never play with actual people.
You are not alone in having encountered such people.
For example, I met a person who, in order to get the highest score, started hitting me with the Balista trying to kill me.
So, I went to kill the Guardian alone, without saying anything to my team and when I killed him, this guy started to insult me in chat because I had not called him. That's ridiculous.
In the end he broke the balls of the team so much that every time he died no one in the team would go to revive him.
I would've done the same thing you did.Originally Posted by Sanguinius-IX- Go to original post
The name shaming part alone made you look at least as childish though. He might not even made mistakes:
1. Getting renown quickly is important. 1 assist+1 kill is better than 1 kill. Especially since Kensei has relative ly good feats.
2. Kensei is extremely good for clearing, unless you played nobu or kensei, you really were in his way. Especially if you play an assassin.
3. Attacking the commander directly is usually a waste of resources, it is usually better to push minions, and draw out the defenders with the ballista. Unless you have like 20 respawns. Also, unless they were afk, the other two players probably kept the other enemies away from the Commander for you.
Try communicating with your team more.
Except that he was purposely trying to disrupt the team, and was just being a jacka** the whole time. I realize that the kensei is good for clearing, but I wasn't in the way; he was trying to get me to stay away from the pikemen just so he could get the points, and he kept taking executions from everyone when they needed them. Pretty much anytime one of my other two teammates or I was trying to do something, he was there aggressively competing and interfering with us.Originally Posted by Goat_of_Vermund Go to original post
As a "team" we weren't getting anywhere with the third phase. Only one other teammate was helping me with the objective(s). The kensei literally did not help during the commander fight at all; he and another teammate (who also got tired of his BS) were just taking turns hitting each other near the ballista. And when I finally called him out on his behavior and asked him to help complete the match, he sniped me.
Well he does sound like a ***** but him just trolling and fooling around at the end goes against him goal of just wanting to have the highest score at all costs. Maybe I'm just weathered by playing this game or online games in general for so long but at some point the cliche of "Don't feed the troll" becomes second nature to where not only do you not have to actively refrain from reacting but you also just simply do not get bothered by it enough to effect your experience. Just complete the current match so you yourself do not miss out on the rewards and receive the leaver penalty and find a new lobby after.
Its actually the ONLY rational thing to do. Nothing you say or do will change the behavior of younger players who are still immature or toxic players who likely suffer from some sort of social disorder. In fact, saying or doing anything in response will only motivate them further and pushing for Ubi to add more restrictions or consequences will only be exploited by those same players to hurt the non toxic ones.
These are just my honest conclusions on these kind of matters. Best of luck to you.
