I was running around the DZ and a few randoms invited me to their group. After a bit two dropped and it was just myself and a guy with 1/3 my SHD points.
We cleared a few landmarks and a Pestilence dropped (for me). I have more exotics than I know what to do with plus exotic components galore too, so we extracted and I shared it with him.
He didn't even know what a Pestilence was and Ive never seen such such gratitude. He immediately sent a friend invite.
See, it's not all gankers and ego maniacs in the DZ.![]()
No not all, you just stumbled on one of the few. I use to have Pestilence but I deleted it during a mindless re-roll. Typically I get shot up in the DZ but yesterday a weird thing happened. Some others were near me & it appeared we were cool. Then what I thought might have be a test he hit me with a few rounds. So I fired a few back & out come his shield. He returned a few & I obliged & returned a few & then went down. My gal needed a revive but the after effects got to him to. So he jumps on top of my Gal as he is going down. It resembled the making of a porn vid but in reality he was probably trying to steal some health if I revived her. I wish I had a replay, that was funny & unique.Sock_Monkey

Hey Sock.. Long time no see.
Early in the life of TD1, I had a large group that we mostly PvE'd but occasionally they would go to the DZ. Anyway, I told them I'd join if they wanted me to, but wouldn't kill anyone not rogue. So, we did the opposite. We found a group of two obviously new end game players. Our group of 4 followed them around doing nothing but healing them. At first they thought we were going to jump them, but I heard one say "well, if they do, we won't stand a chance anyway, so we'll take the help while we can get it". It was amusing to us and after a few minutes, they got into it as well and was flying into PvE firefights with reckless abandon. When we got bored and finally all left the DZ, we all got invites from them.
Another time (much later), I was in TD1 DZ for the DZ SHIELD commendations (which I think was the last time I saw you actually), I was getting harassed by a group of 3. I just wanted to do my SHIELD stuff and leave. Anyway, this went on for a bit they kept killing me, I switched areas, they found me. I tried to switch servers but kept getting back on same one. Long story short, I was almost done so I kept at it. They were chasing me down and then all three went down in short succession. There was a sniper that had showed up about then and saw those three repeatedly killing me and others. Anyway, I stopped in the middle of the street. Turned around, gave a salute emote, and finished up the last thing I needed within a couple of minutes. I hadn't been back in there since on end game.
(still on TD1) I do have a level 14 character that I just use in the DZ. It is a completely different scene in the DZ at the lower levels. It is actually quite fun. No noticeable cheating, some PvP happens, but seems there are few gank squads. The few people that are just harassing other people are on a much more level playing field so it just takes a couple other players to take them down, not the whole map being unable to. If that is what endgame DZ would have been like, I might have liked it better. I still suck at PvP (never have really liked it), but it sometimes seems like there's a chance...
Yeah, there's always some `tards looking to anonymously bully. I haven't come across that yet in Div 2, but admittedly I don't go into the DZ nearly as much as I did in the original Div.
The most annoying experience I can recall: again, this was the original Division, and a gang of four rogues surrounded me outside a CP. I can tell they were kids getting off on bullying me as a solo player. They were very careful to NOT kill me, but just took pot shots with their sidearm; enough to keep me in "combat mode" so I couldn't exit. From there they proceeded to call me all kinds of things, and I gotta say their nasally voices sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard.
There was little I could do, but I stayed close to the door and kept my eye on the "F to exit" flag, and at some point they let just enough time lapse that it became active, so I immediately pressed F. Once the animation where your character starts to open the door begins, there's no stopping it, so I had a few satisfying moments where I heard the dorks yelling "Noo!" as I "escaped" their bullying session. Kind of annoying, but kind of satisfying in the end just the same.
To Rodnaz; yeah, I'll agree my encounter was "one of the few." Perhaps that makes it all the more enjoyable, since the positive experiences are so few and far between.
Back in the day when it was released, the balance at gold gear was pretty brilliant tbh, the dz was amazing to be in and it was fun. However the green gear came in an it died a death for fun, same for the end game classified builds. It still has its moments but up to high end gold was great andbstill is pretty fun if you can find the players to pvp with.Originally Posted by Bambihunter1971 Go to original post
When the game was free on xbox live gold i dropped in an made it to about level 15 and stuck around that mark doing pvp in the dz an it was brilliant fun. However i then made it to 19/20 and the fun taliored off again so id stick at the high end of that level cap for the dz, as soon as skills start making a bigger appearance it drops off.
The dzs not all full of bad players, theres just not enough incentive to rogue hunt so the pvpers get the builds spot on for it but then for some reason use/teat these things going 4v1 on farmers rather than doing pvp with other pvpers.
I met my first TD2 friend in DZ, still after 2.5 years I play mostly with himOriginally Posted by Sock_Monkey Go to original post
