    About the MK18 with honesty...

Like many of you i have real time behind this weapon system, I'm not gonna bother with getting technical about it so only gun nuts will understand me, I'm not gonna bother explaining the cosmetic faults either because most of us are over that, instead im going to explain why the 22 damage cap on the mk18 is a mistake from a gameplay standpoint and why with a single super quick fix to that value you will see a large number of players return, hardcore community members that love this game and are just waiting for an excuse to come back to it, for a lot of us this gun was that excuse... Problem is a big portion of your regular player base has never turned off immersive mode since it became available, that's because a lot of us play this game like a pseudo-milsim experience that is not as time consuming and demanding as hardcore MILSIM games but way more grounded than your casual shooter. This means using some semblance of "real-world tactics" in your game, in real life there's obviously no damage values, of course different types of ammo coming out of diferent weapon systems can do different things, but without getting into ballistics let's accept that for the most part, 556 ammo kills... So most real world application of a weapon like the mk18 is done in semi-auto, you'll actually hit what your aiming at and you'll conserve ammunition, your not really worried about getting half a mag on target since first couple of times you hit it, it will probably go down. A lot of us play like this, why would you even add a feature that makes us discard left over ammo in the magazine when we reload if you weren't aware that we want to worry about ammo management? So you'll understand our frustration when we shoot a guy wearing a t-shirt five times in the chest with a supressed mk18 just so that mr. Deadpool over here kills us while we reload, the 416 and m4 with their 27 damage cap are a 3-4 shot kill in the same situation, that 2 to 3 round difference in extreme difficulty and no HUD is the line between effective and completely useless. You might think that only a fraction of the player base cares about this, but i would wager that this is precisely the type of player that has been building this community since Wildlands, the ones that care enough to keep coming back after each update and buy your microtransactions. If you're worried that this will mess the weapon balance and meta, don't! The m4,416 and 4-ac will still be as good if not better even if you buff the mk18 damage to 27. And with an update that'll take the devs an afternoon, you'll get a lot of us veteran players back, even I would buy the crye g4 gear if i had a mk18 that works!

    Sincerely,
Just a guy that likes this game...

I completely agree. The variation in damage between firearms using the same cartridge is mind-boggling. In this regard, it's very much a game, not a tactical shooter.

I'm with you 100%. It just doesn't seem to match up. The gun costs 45k, which you have to earn, so you expect a decent reward. Then if we talk about game balance, I would point you to the 4AC, or other guns that perform better and still have a higher damage value. It just doesn't seem to make sense why it's so low. I think they understood the demand for this gun how much people wanted to like it, but I know a lot of players who are now more upset because it underperforms based on what? I've never really complained about anything in this game before, but this is something that needs a change, and I hope they see it because I really enjoy the game.

    ^^^ +1

It makes no sense whatsoever how they designed the gunsmith - especially given it's a TPS, thus the Barbie factor comes into play ...

    Very good point OP.

The weapon parameters are too "gameified" in order to exaggerate differences. They don't need to be differentiated so much ballistically when size, weight and the shooter's stance and breathing could better determine handling, scope sway and recoil. You don't need to reinvent the world, just use what is already there and authenticity takes less of a hit.

And also damage should be based on caliber and barrel length rather than whatever they based it upon

We also need a long barrel apart from a short barrel and they should actually affect damage and range.. would also be cool if we had the possibility to change gas system

So, if this kind of feedback has been given to them since even before Wildlands but for argument purposes lets just say that it was given a couple of months after the game launched, why is it that after a year and change we are still having this issue?

    Where has the feedback gone?

If they care and have received it, what is the problem with implementing it?

What kind of vision must one have for this game to NOT want to transform it into a Shooter?

How can the CMs and some of the Delta members come here to tell us that the Devs take pride into what they do and they work for that authenticity when the end result is nothing but a LEGO-type of a shooter game?

They are all rhetorical kind of questions since I know what the answer will be but it felt good asking them.

I think that the problem is too much pride, like I said on my topic (Update) too much pride and the person might not want to admit it was wrong.
    Or cant accept it

The developers didn't even bother to make the gun look right, it seems reasonable that they aren't going to bother tuning the stats for it either. It's a copy and paste of the 516 with minimal changes. This includes the stats.
