I’ll do my best to explain this as clearly as possible:
I have the PS4 disc version of the US release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The other day I was backing up my saves on a USB drive and I copied the files to my computer. Inside the PS4 folder, the saves folder is labeled CUSA09303. I find out that CUSA09303 is the serial number for the European versions of the game but I have the North American version, specifically the US one. I double checked the case and the disc and sure enough it all checks as the US release: the ESRB M rating, the “Made in the USA” and the CUSA09311 label on the rim of the labeled side which is the US serial number for the US disc. So then I am puzzled as to why the saves folder is labeled after the European one. I don’t have an European account, just my US one and I rarely connect to the internet anyway.
I would like to add that I did not find any issues playing the game, this is just to satisfy my curiosity. My guess is that this is just an oversight, since the company is European and they might have left this coding in from the European version even in versions from other territories. But this is just a guess.
To summarize: my US disc is labeled CUSA09311 (as it should) but the folder for the save files is labeled CUSA09303 which is the serial number for the European version of the game.
Any knowledgeable pros who can explain this discrepancy?
Thanks.
