Mac: Mouse scroll wheel no longer working on "Learn A Song" list after game update

    Hey there,

Steam recently updated my Rocksmith 2014 Remastered (may have been an update from up to 3 months ago) and ever since, my mouse scroll wheel hasn't worked when trying to select a song. I'm on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

The only other thread I've been able to find that is remotely similar is this reddit post but it seems to only apply to Big Sur (there's no "Input Monitoring" in High Sierra Settings). I've tried adding Rocksmith and Steam to the Accessibility screen inside System Preferences, but no luck. I've uninstalled and reinstalled as well as verified file integrity. Followed the directions here as well with no luck. I've unplugged all other USB devices besides my USB mouse and bluetooth keyboard, and have tried other mice. Scroll wheel works perfectly in Steam and everywhere else.

Other things that have changed or are being weird (and could provide hints): randomly, the escape settings screen will occasionally pop up. Typing outside of Rocksmith while Apple-tab'd into another window no longer affects Rocksmith (but it used to).

    Any ideas?

Mac keyboards don't have page up / down. Arrow keys are how I've been getting around, but it's really not ideal even when sorting my smaller Favorites list.

Regardless, the mouse scroll has worked for many years until the most recent update.

Hey there, psymbionic! Sorry for the delay. I'd be glad to look into this for you and see what might be happening. Just to check, and I know this sounds simplistic but are your mouse drivers also up to date?

Thanks for getting back to me. My mouse doesn't use any drivers for Mac - it has drivers for Windows, and those are up to date. I also tried using another mouse but the same issue. Most Mac peripherals don't use specific drivers the way that Windows requires for some things.

Is it a Logitech? Looks like you have to grant mouse wheel support now. Here's a post:

It is not a Logitech, and as I mentioned, I have tried multiple different mouses and they all do the same thing. Further, the scroll wheel works perfectly in every other piece of software. It only began having problems in Rocksmith after an update from Steam.

Try removing steam from the security list and then re-adding it.

    Hey guys,
    Possible solution.

Go to system preferences / Security & Privacy / Privacy Tab / Accessibility

Steam should be listed there. Remove it and quit steam.
I launched steam and quit again at this point...maybe not necessary.

Now go back to the above path and re-add steam to the list.

    Backspace+Return should work now.

Also, do the same thing for other apps like Teamspeak, if PTT isn't working for you.

    Hope that helps someone.

I appreciate your responses to this thread, but I specifically mentioned in the original post that I already tried pretty much every idea you have suggested. I don't think that this is something that googling around is going to fix, I've already looked through every similar post I could find between reddit, here, etc. I'm hoping to hear back from the Ubisoft team who may have some insight as to why the new version is causing this issue with High Sierra.

The only other thread I've been able to find that is remotely similar is this reddit post but it seems to only apply to Big Sur (there's no "Input Monitoring" in High Sierra Settings).
