AC Odyssey... Yes its another CRASH Thread.. Read this before adjusting your BIOS/XMP

Yes, like everyone else.. Odyssey has been crashing on me since I got my new PC.. I have 85 hrs on it using my last pc (my last pc was Overclocked), but this is a nightmare..

Between Steam / UPLAY / GOG Galaxy and EA ORIGIN.. i own over 400 games.. and every single one .. Including Valhalla and even old Origins works perfectly.. Only Odyssey crashes like this

    My PC is:

    ASUS Maximus V Genie ROG / i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz / 16 GB DDR3 / GTX 970 4GB./ Win10 OS Drive: Samsung EVO 850 ssd.240 GB / Programs (Games) Drive.. Samsung EVO 860 ssd 500GB..

And it crashes every 5 mins ..

It sometimes says "Ubisoft Connect has Crashed" .. and other times it says "Odyssey has crashed"..

Ive tried every suggestion online I can find, but nothing helps, but..

What is concerning me is there are actual posts in threads encouraging people to make alterations to their systems Memory timings and XMP profiles in BIOS.. Seriously,..

Unless your experienced at Overclocking, throttling and voltages, you should NOT be having to do this for just 1 game.. unless you own an unlocked CPU.. such as the i5 2500k or i7 3770k.. and others.. overclocking and memory timing adjustments sometimes require over volting your hardware.. which can lead to killing your PC... Permanently.. If its only this one game thats having this issue out of all the dozens of games you own... Leave your motherboards BIOS alone, because you could create even more problems down the road for all your games

The fact that there are 1000s of gamers reporting Odyssey crashing, means theres an issue with the Game, and fiddling with your BIOS just to save UBI from fixing how the game handles memory usage in the game is not the way to go... Odyssey is an old game, so i realsie they might now want to fix it.. but surely 1000s of posts all over the web from Reddit to Ars Technica to all kinds of forums means theres a major issue

I know UBI want everyone to buy Valhalla, but Seriously UBI take another look at the game and optimise it a bit .. it sounds to me like a memory handling issue in the code.

    Cheers

Im not telling anyone what to do here.. Im offering a waring to think about and research your motherboard make/model etc before making BIOS adjustments..

What you do with your own PC is your your choice, just do your research first..

    Good luck

    Hello everyone!

I agree with you entirely regarding the BIOS settings, it's not something we would recommend as it can be damaging if done incorrectly.

There are no known crashing issues on the PC platform that reflect the behaviour you're experiencing. We have received some crashing reports, however we've not been through troubleshooting with many players, therefore it's difficult to say where the source of the issue lies.

With that in mind, we would like to go down the route of offering troubleshooting steps and possibly reviewing system files, to see if we can find the cause.

Please follow the steps in this support article. If the issue persists, I would then recommend contacting us with your system files -

Thanks Raziel.. I Will create a ticket and send in my Info and Diag files.. Im currently playing Fenix Rising.. to save my sanity of the crashing..

When you say Theres no known crash issues on the PC Platform.. Ive got to dis-agree here, there are so many other forums other than the UBI forums that I mentioned, however, I do agree that you cannot track these issues unless people send Bug Reports.. which I have been doing when it crashes back to Connect UI.

However, Ive only ever had one Freeze where my PC has rebooted, but every other crash, just dumps me back to Connect UI.. but I get either

"Connect has Crashed" or "Odyssey has Crashed"

Anyway I noticed today, theres a new Connect update released, but couldnt find any patch notes..

I mentioned Memory Issues in my post because being a Coder myself.. this kind of crash behaviour is often related to a Memory/ Cache dump issues..

Appreciate the reply Raziel.. Have a good one
