That is fine if you accept that 'dying' and going back to the safe house is acceptable, I don't. And with the safde house I totally agree with you.

But to me that is failing and I play my own 'permadeath' where I try to be as careful as possible not to die.

I have played permadeath in other games and considered it in this to get the commendations, but the game crashes too often and I have read other players losing their characters. It is far too risky and I couldn't lose the progression simply from a game freeze.

So I play 'try not to die from self pride' and it still irritates me when I do.

In perspective - the game is challenging in that you are outnumbered all the time and it is really a group game. I don't like multiplayer so the hive is just the team mates I don't play with.

Reviving myself - acceptable, respawning at the safe house - unacceptable.

I’m the same way. I also play not to die. In fact, my objective is to get through a fight (using Glass Cannon) without needing an Armor kit. That’s generally possible except in long boss battles.

But I also think Permadeath is not for me. I could find a difficulty level and load out that reduced the risk of death but I would rather play where death is a very likely outcome. In fact, when I’m not going down very often, it’s time to push myself and play at a harder difficulty.

For me, going down on the street (in the open world) and reviving at a safe house is more immersive as it implies I was left for dead and brought back to safety by a group of civilians to recover. It’s more punishing, as you can lose your bounty, or objective.

Being revived during a mission is unrealistic but necessary... Especially as a first time player. Some of the mission objectives are so poorly explained and ridiculous (running around while shooting trying to accomplish various objectives while on a timer) that I don’t feel bad for going down in those situations. In almost every case, it’s because I had no real idea what I was supposed to be doing and the first few deaths are attributed to simply getting a handle on what you’re doing. On a second playthrough, I’m much more annoyed if I go down. It usually means I’m not on the top of my game, or made a dumb mistake (hit climb instead of cover at the wrong moment).

    I know i would
I've always preferred the idea of picking a different skill then having a specialization weapon that is weaker then what most players carry normally. So yes, I agree with this.

I play solo 90% of the time. The only time I use specialization weapons is when they are needed to complete the Gobal Events.
I don't run with the revive hive though, I use an unbreakable chest piece as I like to use my skills as much as I can and the revive hive feels like it takes 15 minutes to cool down)

I'd be perfectly happy to get rid of the acutal weapon, but not if it meant losing the bonuses that you gain from equipping the specialization (such as headshot damage / stability for Sharpshooter)
