I actually always thought that specialization weapons should like a super-mode that many other games have. You don't get to use it very often, but when you do it should be a clutch moment that can change the entire direction of a fight.

Instead they're more of a wet noodle in most cases. The annoyance of finding ammo for them combined with the cumbersome and slow deploy animation makes them almost pointless when you finally shoot something and it doesn't do anything more than your regular weapons.

I would just like to get rid of the weapon and have reviver hive as a perk and use: 1 x Offensive Skill 1 x Defensive Skill (not optional).....basically you can't have 2 x Offensive or 2 x Defensive.

I agree, they are underpowered or don't register the proper damage, the TAC-50 for example has terrible hit registration problems, you have to aim it on a stationary target and hope they freeze for a while or the shot is wasted.

Well, the Specialization weapons are indeed underwhelming on harder difficulties and I also rarely use them.

But I wouldn't want to see a "free" Reviver Hive on every agent. Getting a free rez every few minutes should not be standard perk but should come with a downside – which currently is that you have to sacrifice a skill slot for it. That sounds pretty fair to me.

But having Specialization weapons scale a bit more with difficulty would be fine. Or at least some. And a bit.

If you doing missions with 4 players why do you need a hive - if everyone is going down your already in trouble and no hive is going to save you - you should be able to rely on your team mates to pick you up if you go down if you can't then the battle is already out of hand and whats the point of team mates - it good for those impatient players who go down in a bad spot and want to be picked up immediately I can wait for a team mate but honestly playing heroic I seldomly do go down and a team mate will pick me up if I do its never a problem. There are those mission that happen once and a while that you loss carry a hive in case that happens seems like a waste to me because it rarely happens I would much rather carry another skill. Raids and Legendary are the exception I would consider carrying one.

I play solo, mostly. Heroic, directives, glasscannon... offensive. To each their own, but I don't use it.

Yeah, that's starting to look like the main issue to me. I need to do a lot more testing at level 40, but my experience so far has been that there's a significant difficulty increase between doing Heroic solo and with two players. A friend and I find it reasonably easy to get through a Heroic mission with all five directives turned on when we're playing together, even with loadouts that are not as fully buffed as they could be (though admittedly using turret/drone meta), but solo with the same loadout has been a lot more difficult for me. And of course it's solo is where I'd lose 50% instead of 25% of my skill power (a huge nerf to a skill-heavy loadout where skills are doing 75% of your damage).

It's not just raw stats when determining difficulty. The enemies have an additional target to shoot at (or up to 3 additional, for a total of 6 targets, in the case of drone/turret meta). The AI responds differently to 2 agents instead of 1. You have unlimited free revives as long as one of the agents stays alive. Your teammate can even fast travel back to base to reload, or if they die, then immediately fast travel back to your position. You also have any synergy with specialization or gear benefits to teammates.

The game is SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult for solo players. To such an extent that I'm not even entirely certain that the devs fully considered how drastically different the whole dynamic of the game is between groups and single players. Especially into heroic and legendary content.

It's something I need to keep in mind when criticizing players who are accustomed to how easy things are in groups. As a 99% solo player, I take it for granted that I play at a higher-than-average difficulty. That's not bragging, it's just what I've conditioned myself to. It's no different than getting accustomed to paying with glass cannon on all the time.
