Well, part of the issue there is that you seem to have very few weapons you like, essentially just the Mk17, right? Part of the point of the game is to dribble out the weapons, rather than give you everything all at once, and make the player learn to make do with something that's not entirely optimal. There are plenty of other rifles you could be using that are not so far off from an Mk17, that would work reasonably well while you're waiting for your perfect weapon to drop.Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
I suppose they could just give you a button that gives you any weapon you want, even with any roll you want, but that kind of undoes the "looter" point of the game.
I disagree. After level 30 I had to wait quite a while for a purple UIC15 MOD2 to drop, and even longer for a gold one, but it was not only just a minor crimp in my play style, but in fact forced me to learn to use the Mk17 instead, which I now prefer in many situations. But if you think it's bad now... wait until you get to level 40. Trying to find a weapon you like with good rolls and or a talent you want is just ludicrous.
Right. Not getting any at all of a particular weapon type would be much more serious than "I didn't get this particular type of weapon," and having a set of vendors guaranteed to be selling each type is a pretty reasonable solution to that.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
I've had a reasonable rate of god-rolled items, so it's not deliberately broken. BTW, you can determine if an item is useful for recalibration immediately on looking at it: small triangles under each attribute mark the current value in your recalibration library, and a diamond-and-lines symbol under the talent icon notes if you have the talent in your library. (Though it may be more efficient to simply quickly grab everything you come across and actually look at it only later. For me it depends on the situation and how I feel at that moment.)Originally Posted by Aced_100 Go to original post
That does seem very odd. Approximating the chances of getting any kind of AR at all from a weapons crate as one in seven (the number of weapons types), the chances you'd never see an AR in a hundred crates is quite literally less than one in a million. On the other hand, with millions of players each doing several or more sequences of a hundred boxes each, we would expect this to happen a few times, so perhaps you just won the lottery.Originally Posted by DarkGhost-Jedi Go to original post
I prefer the MK17 but have used the 716 CQB and even an LVOA. I had a UIC for a few levels early on, but believe it or not, did not see one again until tonight. That’s at least 100 hrs of play between drops of a specific gun. And in all that time, I have not had a rifle drop with the Rifleman talent. But as I said, I’ve got a closet full of broomsticks, I mean boomsticksOriginally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post.
A week ago, LateNiteDelight suggested I try a G28... I’d love to. But still looking.
While levelling I predominantly played with whatever a vendor was selling that fit my style because I could not find something suitable at the rate I was levelling.
This leads me to reiterate my suggestion, that every weapon should have a blueprint. And it should be something you can get fairly early on, while levelling, since crafting weapons from blueprints is really only useful to keep it current with your level. I did that with the Super 90, although shotguns drop WAY more often than rifles in my game. Keep all the other gear RNG, but they really need to make blueprints more accessible in the early game. Within my first few levels, I had tried a number of different weapons and already determined what suited my play style. The other 37 levels just made that unnecessarily frustrating.
And as far as God Roles... I assume that’s where an attribute is maxed? I play on hard, so maybe this is normal, but the only gear I have with any god rolled attributes is from vendors.

Thanx for all your input guys!
Don't get me wrong,
I didn't start it to complain
but to see if I was the only one experiencin' this.
Been playin' the storymode 4x before
and didn't have this then.
Yup, won the lottery!!!
But the other way around.
Well, you've quessed it,
but I put this thread up
and went to DC.
In about an hour I picked up a P416.
An moments later I stumbled across an elite territory control conflict,
the boss dropped a Police M4.
Both in Downtown West, so I decided to roam around a bit.
Targeted loot is not/should not be active in storymode, but hey, can't hurt to put this to the test right?
Well, AR's kept commin' while I kept dwellin' Downtown West.
Should have checked on my other PSN if it was Targeted Loot area for AR's.
Sorry I didn't, cuz I can't proof my theory now😉
But did find it peculiar that in other areas earlier on in levelin' up drops where quit simular in gear/weapons.(ex. loads of masks or periods of side-arm after side-arm)
So I'm havin' this feelin' although Targeted Loot is not active in storymode
that it does have it's effect/consequence.
No, it's where all attributes are maxed. And some might say that it still doesn't count as a god roll if it has "rainbow" attributes (each a different colour), since those tend to be less useful.Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
You might be some time seeing a God Roll if you play only Hard, though. (I see two or three a week, but I'm mainly playing Heroic.)
As for the issues with not seeing certain weapons, I'm a bit mystified. The only thing I can think of to try to examine this further is to have people start counting the number of weapons crates they open, enemy drops they take, and targeted loot that they get to see if for some reason they're just not collecting very much loot. I've gone a dozen or more hours without seeing a particular weapon, but not weeks.
I think the elves in charge of loot drops are monitoring this thread... because tonight I got The Artists Tool (perfect rifleman) and a MK17 with rifleman talent. LOL.Originally Posted by DarkGhost-Jedi Go to original post
Squeaky wheel gets the grease!
Edit: I got another Artists Tool. LOL. When it rains it pours I guess. However, most of my good gear has come from named item cache drops or vendors. Very little from out in the world (but maybe that’s because I’m playing on Hard).
A bunch of different topics here from several different posters, so I'm not going to try that format on my Phone.
Anyway.....
So, we have to remember that this is a looter game. And there are a of variables to getting a specific item with specific attributes.
Weapons, Armor, Skill mods, Weapon mods, Armor mods.
And then within weapons you've got 7 weapon types and 11 rifle types.
And THEN if you're lucky enough to have a Mk17 drop, there's a secondary attribute and a talent to roll.
That's why it's called a "God" roll: because it's almost an act of god for all of that to fall into place with every attribute max. But also because when you get it all maxed and perfect, it's godlike.
But...here's the thing. We've got tools to help us skew the system in our favor. Targeted loot, blueprints, Recalibration, Optimization higher difficulty, vendors, and with Summit there are directives.
And the game also does a good job of throwing a lot of drops at you. Random drops from kills. Rewards from mission and event completion. Field prof boxes, daily and weekly projects, seasonal boxes. And if you've got regular friends to play with willing to trade....well...youre all set.
Ha... I rarely see a piece of of gear with one attribute at max... I've never seen one with all attributes maxed. It seems you have to play harder difficulties to get better gear, which is fine... it's just not for me. As you know, I'm not interested in increasing sponge in order to find better gear to reduce it again... I might as well just stay on this difficulty. If found if I want a crazy fight from hell, I just need to escalate a Control Point to Level 4 before attacking it.Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post![]()
It's not impossible, but the chances of getting something good is significantly lower until you step up to at least challenging.Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
IMO challenging is kind of the sweet spot between difficulty and fun and loot. I'll regularly get items around 75% rolls on things, and occationally a max attribute.
If I was you I'd focus entirely on filling up the Recalibration library, first, then go from there. It makes it much easier to turn a garbage item into something usable.
In story mode your so over powered even a lower LV AR will do the job - if you play it right all you need will be found in the area your working do all control points before moving on to the next area - skipping these activities will give you less to work with. But people insist on rushing this part of the game.
I was doing the manhunt parts last night solo and I ran into an epic encounter: No Hope Hotel CP alert 4 while an elite (or high threat) patrol was pulling in, in the middle of the pew-pew got an aerial recon and few minutes later rogue agents, followed by an unfortunate late supply convoy. It was much fun.
However, I had high hopes for some good drops and I got only junk, all deconstructed![]()
Might seem obvious to others, but I see much better loot when you play in a group.
