Rotating Camera horizontally on Hall of Gods guaranteed Crash/Freeze
Hi,
Here is everything I know:
- Played 13 hours of the base game and demo, never had a single crash.
- After progressing to the point Afrodite was fully restored to normal and her spirit showing in the Hall of Gods, I took a 2 to 3 week break (no crashes here before the break).
- Came back to play the game, a 16 GB ish patch had to be installed. I am assuming it was the Lost Gods, since I have the season pass.
- Loaded the game right into the hall of gods, rotated the camera horizontally and within a few seconds, crashed.
Here's something I learned through experimentation:
- Rebooted game, tried at least a few times, crashed all the times.
- Noticed rotating the camera was the issue, and could slowly walk, open menus without crashing etc.
- Teleported out of the Hall of Gods. Could rotate the camera just fine (!!!!) no crashes.
- Ghost of Achilles showed up almost immediately, fought him off no crashes at all. Needless to say the camera spun to its heart content.
- Jumped on my fellow horse, speeded up, moved camera horizontally...and crashed. (argh!).
Reloaded the game again.
- This time, I tested going to a vault (of Achilles!). Fought my way through his vault, punched him to the next week, got out of the vault. NO crashes. Spun camera a lot too.
- Used the horse, had no issues this time.
- Flew, glided, jumped, climbed all the way up, no issues.
Manually saved the game just in case. Teleported to the hall of gods to see if problem was gone...and nope, crashed right after I pinned the camera there.
Besides all the experimentation above, and the 10 or more crashes, all closed the game, triggered ubisoft "would you like to send a crash report?", which I chose yes to them all. No error code was displayed when sending them (I noticed this was asked around the forum).
Last but not least, on the horse crash while rotating the camera, I noticed the screen mili seconds after exiting the game seem to skip several frames, as if the screen was not being capable to keep up with the rotation.
Also tried some solutions on the forum, such as setting the manual frame cap to 59 (never had used this before when it didn't crash, but this didn't solve either). My game settings are all low already too. Driver is up to date too.
So that's all I could do to narrow down the problem. Any ideas if the more recent patch blew something up? Or maybe afrodite just hates me despite me saving her... I really wanted to go back to play the game, but crashing on the one single place you can upgrade makes it a bit...impossible.

Ubisoft Support Staff
Hiya aesgaerius, thank you for coming to us with this issue and I am sorry this has been such a pain coming back to the game. To help take a close look into this with you, could you please create a support ticket here with your MSINFO & DxDiag attached? Would you also be able to share a video clip of you replicating this crash inside of the Hall of Gods? While these crash reports are sent to a separate team, this information will help us take a closer look into what might be causing this issue.

Thank you for the quick-follow up!
I have created the issue and included a video clip on the issue (the video ends when the game crashes). The reference number is: 14634192. Note I had to decrease the video quality and crop it as close as possible to the crash since the file size limit is 5MB, so there is not enough space to demonstrate what I describe on text that works (jumping, running, opening menus, etc).

Would you be able to upload the footage to Youtube (Unlisted if you wish) and then share a link to the video. That way you won't need to reduce the quality or crop it.

I will try this if the cut video isn't enough, thank you for the suggestion!

I'm experiencing the same issue as of about two weeks ago. Moving the camera crashes the game to desktop. I'm currently inside "Ajax castle".
After the crash to desktop, I hear the Windows plug'n'play sound, as if something was plugged in or out and then I get a brief Windows error in the taskbar near clock stating something along these lines: "Display driver stopped responding (something about "kernel"), and that it was successfully recovered".
I have the latest nvidia graphics drivers as of today.
Windows 7 64 bit
i7-3770
GTX 1070
16 GB RAM
It ran fine until several weeks ago.
Thanks

I've just reverted nvidia drivers 466.27 from to 460.89, and it seems to be working fine now.
Don't know if this means anything, but the screen was darker in 466.27 (with HDR enabled).

Typo in previous message: "I've just reverted nvidia drivers from 466.27 to 460.89"

Thank you for updating this, I am still trying to solve mine with an open issue with ubisoft. How did you revert your driver version?
