Why, he already found the lure to catch the big one... what else is there to do?

see once again you aren't truly immersed. He didn't find the lure, he helped get the material to craft it! Crafting, that is the secret sauce to all games!

The Ghosts were founded as Delta Company, 5th SFG.

Before and during the Vietnam War, the MAC-V formed a special unit under the 5th Special Forces Group called Detachment B-52. It was also known as Project DELTA (hmmmmm...). Project DELTA, 5th SFG also was a forerunner to and inspiration for the later MAC-V SOG that existed alongside Project DELTA.

Project DELTA was also known for testing and using experimental gear and equipment for it's recoinnaisance and hunter-killer missions...

Another fun fact, at one point Project DELTA was led by then Captain Charles Beckwith (a lendary Green Beret who would later found Delta Force, which was inspired by SAS that he served with at one point).

In 1965, the unit would be commanded by Captain Charles Beckwith, the man who revolutionized the Special Forces training and would later found the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta (Also known as Delta Force). He would use his experience from serving in the British SAS to test and select men for long-range reconnaisance operations. During his leadership, he led the B-52 in the rescue of the besieged Special Forces camp at the Siege of Plei Me.

Chances are, Nomad was planning to set up a command and control outpost somewhere on the island, and direct all the action from there. After all, with no communication to or from the island, the Ghosts would have to rely on short range radio communication, to pass information to Nomad.
