Hello there,
I got into R6 some weeks ago and I am trying to learn the game as good as I can. I acknowledge that this is a game of high competitiveness with one of the sharpest learning curves. So, I screw up a lot of things in my matches of all kinds. Missing map knowledge, lack of aim, etc. are regular mistakes in my gameplay. The only way of learning how to do all these things is playing the game and accept mistakes.
But unfortunately, the game makes it very difficult to enjoy the learning for me as an absolute beginner in QP (A little context: I am avoiding Newcomer, because the amount of toxic smurfs there is upsettingly high.). I realized I get extremely rough games with seemingly high level/rank players with extreme aim and game sense who destroy me instantly when they see me. I have matches where I literally can't move without getting one-tabbed from angles I didn't even know existed. If the players are far too high-rank for me to compete against, I won't learn anything because the strats and mechanics they use are so advanced I can't perform them without learning the basics first. The games frustrate me a lot this way and also make other people getting upset at me because I screw up simple things that they are used from their way higher Elo. I had to turn off all chats regularly to avoid toxicity towards me.
I dug around and found r6.tracker. I don't know how precise this page is, but it says my QP MMR is around Plat III. That is prepostrious! I have no idea what I'm doing! The only way why I got this MMR is because I played with friends from this QP Elo and I won games with them, even scored some kills, but I don't do it regularly and I just have no clue about this game (yet). I am running around like an idiot, sometimes accidentally scoring a kill or two, and that's it. I don't even have insane aim and I don't know the maps either.
Why does the game put me in such lobbies, based on a few games where I got carried? It makes the game unneccessarily cruel and unfun to play. It would be good if the MMR would be more precise in analyzing my performance or at least make MMR adjustment much quicker, so I am not stuck in the high QP Elo I got "boosted" into for several matches where I'm just gonna get clapped until I drop into the Elo I belong. At this rate it would take me hours and big loss streaks to get to the Elo I belong into, and on the way, nobody's gonna have fun in my matches at all.
Thank you for reading!
Long story short, casual MMR was a huge mistake. It added queue times to higher elo players(like me). When it got added to the game after Operation Health it gave you a MMR based on your W/R in casual from before the patch went live, so I went from completely random games to diamond MMR over night, not fun.
There's pretty much no way out of the MMR unless you lose like 100 games in a row or something ridiculous. Another thing is casual MMR doesn't reset each season, I've never been able to go below plat 2.
It definitely does more harm than good and a lot of us went on a crusade to get it removed back before it came out, but they wouldn't hear it. My advice is do everything you can to study outside the game, look up pro league games and learn some strats and try and learn the maps best you can.
