Only for hardware specs. The software configuration is much more complex. Within weeks two pre-built systems probably won't even be running the exact same version of Windows due to differing patch schedules (Microsoft rolls out patches over time and users have some choice over when to do certain updates) and after that there's also other drivers, the additional software users install (and update or not, as they see fit), and so on. The hardware is by far the simplest part of a PC's configuration.

It seems difficult to explain to people who have never had to debug a tricky software problem just how massively complex the software stack is on a Windows PC running a game.

Oh trust me.. I have dealt with a lot of nasty software throughout the years. But yes, I was specifically addressing hardware related issues in my post. I do know that some software might interfere or cause slowdowns, CTD's even. But faulty or mismatched hardware can cause similar issues as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I appreciate you trying to help those experiencing this issue but I have no issues with any other game but this one.
I doubt it's a window update since R6 and TD1 are running fine.

    Seriously, I tried everything.
I have pretty good hardware and all drivers/bio is updated
    It's ********
I have RTX 3070 and 3900X for christ sake

I am still experiencing crash issues despite the well-known fixes / solutions alleged by some people in these chats. I have submitted my dxdiag / msinfo to tech support, and just hope they fix this problem soon....

I notice there are two things that make The Division 2 game CTD for me.

    1. OBS, random CTD if I use game capture.

    2. Resolution Scaling, that setting that allows you to render the game at a lower resolution but display at a different resolution. Sort of a software DLSS I guess. Any way if I set it to below 100% I get random CTD.

I have a Ryzen 5800X and a RTX 3070. I can play all day without a crash as I don't use the above two items.

since i installed the AMD latest driver and the AMD software overlay and recording started working in game , because it didnt before, i have a instant no message CTD after a couple of minutes playing , upon restarting the game it doesnt happen again in the same day.

im strongly suspicious all this CTD´s are always connected to external softwares overlays intercating with the game, maybe even with UBI connect overlay too.

Some players seems to experience crashes more than others on the same hardware.
And some only experiences minor framerate drops.
But if I may ask, are you by any means running the game in DX12?

I found in my cases that the crashes occur if Ubisoft Connect stays on when my PC enter sleep mode. The game will start at first, then it will just turn itself off, a straight C2D. After restarting Ubi Connect, the problem goes away, and I can play for as long as I want without problems. Though I have not experienced any C2D's in a long time now.
But yes, I also believe that the Discord overlay can cause issues in this game (if you happen to have it turned on)

Yesterday was able to play stable for a half hour or so. Today, crash, crash crash. All in the first few minutes.

Pretty much a console only game, imo

Last night, i had the first "Switch to windowed mode/CTD" crash, after playing for a couple hours. Usually the crashes would happen within the first 5 mins of logging in, or it wouldn't happen.

I only have Uno and The Division as my other Ubisoft games and never any crashes with either of those.
