Tempted to start Tier Mode for some of the rewards - anything you wish you knew before you started to make the experience better/faster?

I wish I would have known to start it sooner. I didn't know the grind was so long, or I'd have started it much earlier in the campaign. By the time I started it, I was nearly halfway through the game. Now I've finished all 4 wings, and only have El Sueno left...so now to complete it I'm having to re-do old missions over and over to get the points to grind through the tiers.

I also wish I'd have known to use the "Open Fire" command for my team more...since on Extreme difficulty you're going to be insta-downed if you don't hit an enemy first via stealth. If you get to where you're being Hunted or Engaged, you need to tell your team to open fire...

If anyone knows any other method to make the grind quicker, please let me know.

There are numerous videos with tips you can watch and from my own experience there are few missions that you can complete with a single shot, or just having to pickup an NPC. Whenever you do all the missions with tier mode active as soon as it becomes available you also won't reach T1 so the grind remains the same.

A cheesy method to grind levels is to get yourself a helicopter with lock-on missiles and find a spot with plenty of Unidad vehicle patrol spawns (that's relatively SAM-site free) and just patrol back and forth destroying the Unidad patrol vehicles. You'll get a couple of hundred tier points for each one (more if you hover the crosshairs over the vehicle to "spot" a couple of the soldiers in the vehicle first) - Koani is great for this if you keep south of the Unidad base as it's so flat and you can go directly towards any patrols.

    Good idea! Thank you!

Another suggestion, if it's not too late for the current campaign underway (and depending on the difficulty level being played), do the 4-/5-star provinces early - either before reaching level 30, or early in the Tier grind.

Adding to the suggestion of using a gunship helo (w/ guided rockets) to hunt Unidad vehicles; the arc of Libertad, Flor de Oro, Malca, Montuyoc, then retrace I found to always be rich in targets.

Fortunately for me, my min/max kicked in early and I got nearly to level 30 just hunting down blueprints and boosting my stats. I took down El Commandante & El Gato to hit level 30, so two high level areas are already off the board. I'll prioritize the remaining 5/4 stars moving forward.

Now to decide if I should quite at 35, or push through for the Bad News..

    Thanks!

Every time you complete a tier, the previous missions will reset in terms of the amount of points you can earn, so you can replay some of the quicker and easier ones that have high point values. The missions from Inca Camina are pretty quick and easy. There are a couple in Espirito Santo that are quick too (one of them is killing an advisor, that can be done in one easy sniper-shot).

Quitting the game shortly after gaining a level in tier 1 mode can cause tier points to NOT reset after gaining a new level. I experienced this bug more than once. Game state updates every 15 minutes on GRN (Ghost Recon Network), so if character's current tier level isn't saved, in next play session game will assume player is still on previous tier level and wont reset tier points after a new level is reached. Only surefire way to prevent this from happening is to leave the game running for 15-20 mins after leveling up and avoid leveling during server maintenance or service outage.

Sniping Unidad vehicles with rockets on Koani - Mojocoyo and Koani - Remanzo borders is a great way for tier boosting. In tier 1 mode, SB convoys often include Unidad escorts. Patrolling these routes with gunship is the fastest (stress free) way to tier 1. Gets boring after awhile, plus new vehicles stop spawning, which is where missions come in. Leaving most rebel side jobs for later helps greatly too. Mortar side job has horrible difficulty scaling, so it's best to complete them as soon as possible. Network stations don't matter much, since all enemies can be shot through walls before going inside. This non-linear approach may be a bit cheesy, but works quite well, sometimes even too well (no spoilers)

Only a few provinces have fast missions with worthwhile tier points and most of them are from smuggling branch. Caimanes missions don't require any major intel or story progression to unlock, only close proximity, so it's good for leveling both new and existing characters. Espiritu Santo province is a gold mine of tier points ("La Santera's chapel" gets harder with progression, while remaining missions play out almost the same as before). Montuyoc has exceptional replay value too, especially if using HALO jump for "The outpost", sync shot for "The instructors", gunship for crates in "Full load", skip directly to second search party in "The deserter" and explosion drone for "Carl Bookhart".

Guerrilla mode is awesome for tier boosting characters until tier 35 and gets exponentially harder from there (lack of detection clouds, team AI is absolutely useless when not inside captured vehicles and well ... there's a 1000 SB + Unidad enemies bullet sponges to kill often under 2 hours).

Hopefully I won't need to cheese - just going to keep running through the missions and hope I hit "Bad News" before I run out of them. I guess I'll consider cheesing if I run out of things to do, but I'll probably just stop playing instead. As soon as I get the fancy Lvoa, I'll be turning off Tier Mode. Hell, I may tire of it and turn it off at 35 instead [want the red shemagh].
