    Nice Content

    Finally some cool stuff.

4 new cars, a few new events, even if they are recycled and a different style of summit.

Enjoyed the new Vette in the NY HC run today. Doing 400+ KM/H with open top gives a fresh breeze.

    Riddle me this, Madman...

How does a 10-year old game like Test Drive Unlimited series successfully pull off convertible features on the SAME MODEL but IVT need to make SEPARATE MODELS just to add open-top variants?

    IVORY TOWER STUDIO
We take one step forward and end up two steps backward.

I was thinking of this aswell, they only added convertibles for the sake of adding them when like you said a game over 15 years ago had features ahead of its time yet this game coming to it third year cant even implement these features, to add further you cant use indicators, you cant use the windscreen wipers and you cant adjust the headlight beam to increase the headlight distance due to poor rendering of the headlights and other vehicles that are not classed as convertibles but in real life that car will have the option of open roof there is no feature likes this in the game, crazy to think about.

Some of the IVT devs come from Eden games, developer of TDU.

Different game, different vibe, different attitude.

Maybe convertibles were not originally planned. Who knows.

So far they have been relatively cheap with adding new content.
Re skins, wide body kits, renaming and giving them a new slot does not make a new car.

    I enjoyed this new addon.
There is too much negativity going on on this forum.
If they actually add something i like, i mention that too.

I prefer constructive criticism over anything else.
You get a lot more done that way.

Still need the level editor and route planner

...and since I would prefer the option to buy a vehicle more than once for different stylings or tunings, I don't mind another version as a "separate" vehicle.

But yes, the option to open a convertible would be nice in freeroam, but honestly, I would never use it except for testing it once...

How low the bar for quality content has been set.

Don't get me wrong, new cars are welcome, but I consider that to be the bare minimum for an arcade racing game. Recycled events, that is, using the same track but with a different discipline and calling it new, is the height of laziness.

I'm not a fan of the new content, and it has nothing to do with shabby implementation, (though it does take some of the shine off them as a decent DLC, albeit free), or Motorpasses - they're just not my cup of tea, but I will admit they are at least different to what we had. I don't think they were tested particularly thoroughly, but they offer something different and plenty of people like them. Call it negativity, call it whatever you please, I'm not, however, going to give them credit for further "new" events, when it's a lazy rehash.

But using the same track with a different discipline counts as a new event?

I suppose, pedantically, it does; though by the same token, the special edition cars with wide bodykits handle different to their original counterpart, yet, apparently, they are not considered different.

Yes, it's new content, Madman, but they literally took an existing vehicle model and chopped off its roof. Doing modeling myself, that's literally all they did for a few.

About IVT having past Eden Games devs, that just proves my point! Is this game engine THAT limiting?

Look. It is great we're still getting "content" for TC2 well within 3 years of the game's lifetime, but you'd think they could do more?

TDU used Havok, while TC2 uses... a fork of Dunia from far cry (probably 2's)

I think TC1 used Havok as well. Not 100% sure .

TC2 uses UbiSoft own engine. Might be the same as the one used for Watch Dogs etc.

These recycled Agency events are not really new events.

I was referring to the summit events. They have different moods.
    Also based off existing races.

It is kind of funny being criticized for making a positive comment

Most of new content is half-assed low effort shiny turd.
Stunt events? Nice work from environment artists, everything else is just cheap. Coders just copypasted freeroam followers stuff and called the job done. Points are poorly balanced, tracks are buggy.
Cars? Most of those "convertibles" dont even have an option for top up in visual customisation. And none of them have an operational top. This is very cheap and lazy approach.
TC2 already had convertibles and roofless cars before. All Koeningseggs or Veyron Vitesse are targa-style semi-convertibles for example. None of those got any updates to have top down option.
Is this game engine THAT limiting?
No. They could easily add proper support for convertible cars. They just chose not to.
