Top End Game = The grind for Rubies & Fine Silk
Now i'm close to capping out my characters i've spent some time spreadsheeting the resourcing required for smithing their equipment so that I know which helix event is worth chasing in order to maximise the reward for each gem.
Ignoring Pay-Eivor's equipment and assuming Rebillion's Edge is gained through Story 28 instead of crafting, the resources required to max out the available Tier 5 equipment for all characters are as follows:
27 Ancient tablets
10 Amber
16 Cinnibar
21 Coral
20 Emerald
29 Jet
24 Malachite
19 Obsidian
39 Ruby
19 Soapstone
14,360 Damascus Steel
13,285 Gold Ingot
19,195 Fine Silk
Plus
9 Myrmidion Polearm (T4)
6 Ritualistic Xiphos (T4)
The two areas that results in the most grinding is Rubies and Fine Silk. Rubies due to the large numbers required, twice the game average, and Fine silk due to the lower returns from the Tier 5 loot missions compared to either Damascus Steel or Gold Ingots.
When you compare qty of characters in each discipline you can see that DPS (Rubies) and Assassins (Jet) have the same qty of characters:
9 Tank (Malachite)
7 AOE (Cinnibar)
14 DPS (Ruby)
14 Assassin (Jet)
8 Stealth (Obsidian)
8 Navigation (Coral)
7 Heal (Soapstone)
8 Support (Emerald)
4 Disarm (Amber)
So although there are the same number of Assassin characters are there are DPS Characters, the assassin class has a lot more Legendary weapons and hence a lower need for jet.
14 Assassin = 42 equipment slots
- 1 Rebellions Egde via Story 28
- 7 legendary tablets
- 1 missing heavy armour for Ishak
- 2 missing tier 5 polearms replaced by T5 Myrmidion Polearms
- 2 missing tier 5 swords replaced by T5 Ritualistic Xiphos
= 29 jet required
14 DPS = 42 equipment slots
- 2 legendary
- 1 missing tier 5 polearm replaced by T5 Myrmidion Polearm
= 39 Ruby required
As for Fine Silk:
A completed grind of all tier 5 loot missions provides:
90 Damascus Steel
105 Gold Ingot
90 Fine Silk
Meaning, ignoring bonus days and daily selection purchases, a player need to grind out all loot missions every day for the following qty of days to complete the requirements:
160 days to max Damascus Steel
126 days to max Gold Ingot
214 days to max Fine Silk
As such the I contend that the top end game resolves down to a constant grind for two resources: Rubies and Fine Silk. And that this will take most players approx 6 months of daily playing to complete from the time they break through into the level 5 game before they can max out all characters.

Redo your calculations. Loot missions can be done 5 times a day, not 3. So you get 150 fine silk from grinding all tier 5 loot missions, as an example.
And once a week (twice if you plan it carefully), you can get 180 instead of 150. That speeds up recollection even more.

My bad, you are correct.
However my point stays the same. The top end game still resolves down to a final grind for rubies and fine silk.
