Start all over again - what else you can do?

Why play a setting the game cannot support?
I mean....it's there.....but useless considering a client crash kills your toon......no point in Heroic Toons unless you like screaming at the screen when "ubisoft connect" kicks you to the curb.

    Just sayin.

9 out of 10 times the crash will just log you out. Unless you crash during combat, then you're screwed.

That "9 out of 10" has no meaning... it's true only if you spend most of your time in a safe area.

Not doing H/C, yet, every crash I've ever gotten was in middle of combat...Return and dead/downed/or already revived is Safehouse....

Eh....as someone who played Hardcore exclusively over the past month WITH disconnects and crashes...I can say with authority that even when fighting a LOT of times you won't die from a crash.

The risk is still very high simply due to the nature of hardcore mode. But it's not an automatic death. Especially if you're able to close the game and log back in quickly.

    You just got lucky.

The one time I crashed out of the BoO I was killed even though I was just preparing to engage in battle and I was inside a building while the NPCs were on the street.

Luck when repeated over a long term becomes a pattern of observable and predictable behavior. This is the principle that casinos work on.

In other words: It happened often enough for me to be fairly certain of when I could survive a crash and when I couldn't. Generally speaking, whenever there are enemies around you're usually going to die if they've already noticed you. This is less certain with a turret/drone build, since they provide extra targets and also continue shooting even when you're not personally active.

But if enemies haven't noticed you, as long as you're quick about closing the game and logging back in....usually you'll survive. What I'm not certain of is the exact moment you get logged back to the safehouse: At logout, or when you log back in.

I'm not trying to say this is a guarantee. And it's NEVER fun to have to deal with the gamble of a disconnect. I'm only saying that it's not a guaranteed death if you're on the ball.

It may not be a guarantee, but it should not be part of the experience at all.
