I started the genre with Odyssey, dipped back into Origins to clear up some questions about Layla. Was considering Valhalla, but now I am not so sure. You see, I'm a hoarder. Origins doesn't have any off character storage, so my inventory is cluttered as (insert bad word here). In Odyssey, I could dump gear I wanted to save, into my ships storage. But I hear tell from friends who have played Valhalla, that ya'll forgot one of the most basic needs of a gamer in any game, and that is off player storage of items and gear. I mean, Skyrim got it right. Odyssey ya'll got it right. But Origins. Nope. Valhalla? Not from what I hear. HOW can you make such a basic mistake?
Gamers hoard stuff. Nearly every gamer I know in any game, has bags and chests and banks full of stuff they are likely to never use, but want to hold on to. I have over 1000 ships in EVE Online, and many of them, I'll never fly again. I have 250 billion isk worth of modules in Eve, I don't use but a tiny tiny tiny fraction of them. In Skyrim, My storage chests are packed full. My horse is so full of gear, she can't run. My companions, all are gear heavy. In WOW, I have 8 character, just so I can use them as storage. I have three guilds with banks, just so I can use the banks as storage. Same with every other game I have that has storage. Heck, I spent nearly $600 in Secret World: Legends, JUST to purchase storage space for stuff I'll prolly never use again.
That's really, basic gamer 101. How can ya'll have missed that type of need in your games, then get it right in odyssey, only to lose your minds on it in Valhalla and revert to... well. The dumb, as I call it. Nek!
But seriously. Some of the things ya'll do makes me seriously wonder if any of you have ever actually played an MMO or RPG etc. Or is it the suits who never played and are to stubborn and arrogant to grow a clue about in game storage? The system in origins, sucks. Period. If Valhalla is anything like Origins, I'll pass.

I honestly can't sympathise with you on this one.
Heck i'll throw you a bone, when you get to end game in origins you have a looooot of stuff to scroll through when equipping weapons so I can see how you would find it annoying and cluttered however i reckon id waste more time manually putting all that stuff into storage cause I change my gear so rarely.
I changed it a lot at the start of the game but i didnt have much stuff back then, by the time i had a massive amount of stuff i basically had my final gear with the perks i love, i only visit the blacksmith to upgrade it to a higher level so storage really doesnt impact me.
I also want to point out having just played through the entire series from ac1 up to ac origins (finished origins literally yesterday) that origins was the first game with storage. The early games you just had equipped gear and bought upgrades or new gear that was instantly keybinded when purchased. The more recent games have started to have more gear options but they were limited in the sense that you bought a weapon and it was always there in the store so you could change between types of weapons whenever you want but you would not find 6 of the same kind of sword.
AC Origins was the first game where you can loot enemies and get gear, it's the frist time you will have 6 of the same light bow in your inventory. It seems to me origins took a big amount of inspiration from witcher 3 having a lot in common but i cannot get mad at a game for not having storage options in the first game to even have an inventory with lots of gear.
If what you say is true then they improved it with odyssey which is good, thats what you want from the 2nd game to have something, it should be improving on what the 1st game missed out on.
So now we know origins and odyssey are both fine, valhalla I cant comment on, not only have I not played it but my mate hasnt even played it yet. If they removed storage options in that game id assume there was a reason, maybe there is just less stuff in the world to fill up your inventory? or maybe your mate hasnt figure out the method to unlock it yet? who knows, we can find that out together when we try it![]()
I played Valhalla for a bit before the game glitched on me so badly I was forced to uninstall it (and am now going through the nightmare of a 6 day redownload thanks to my weird internet). I got to the point where you find out you are going to betray your brother. Had to save so I could go make lunch, came back and restarted the game and it was FUBARED. Couldn't get into the game, just the pre-screens where you choose continue, new game etc. Click any of them and I got a black loading screen with the triskelion spinning, and nothing more. Game was totally fried. In Origins, I tend to switch gear depending on what I am doing. Do I need assassin skills? Ok this gear. Do I need hunter skills? Ok this gear, Do I need warrior skills? Ok that gear. But I have to weed through a massive list of various types of gear to get to the ones I want. Because I tend to hoard stuff. Either because I dig the look, like the name, or may use it for something specific. Having it ALL clutter up my inventory, just tends to frustrate the.... skin.... off me.
Having an option to drop stuff into a storage box, like they did in Odyssey, rocked, I could have my three sets of gear in my inventory, and not have to wade through 50 items to find them. NOT having the options, just pisses me off. How hard is it to do a simple storage system? Every other game, for the most part, has some kind of out of inventory storage options you can use. Odyssey had it, so it's not like UBISOFT doesn't know how to do it, it's just they don't seem to think it's needed, when in fact, it actually is.
In Origins I have 10 different legendary shields. I use 3 of them. I have something like 14 different legendary swords (I think, I'd have to check to be sure). I use 2 of them. I have way to many legendary bows to have to weed through them every time I want to quickly switch roles I'm doing and having to go through them all every time is frustrating, when if I had storage, I could dump the rest of the gear into it, and run with just the pieces I want, rather than every legendary piece I have found so far.
It's just stupid not to have storage, and Ubisofts inventory based storage is idiotic, cumbersome, and frustrating to the point I no longer bother playing the game after finishing the main quest line. I suspect that I will not play Valhalla much either, even though I paid for the ultimate edition. I detest not having storage that much. I'll also not likely bother buying another ubisoft game, now that I have dealt with lack of off character storage in 4 of their games. For me, it's a deal breaker, and I am seriously considering asking my bank to do a charge back for Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising, and to heck with what Ubisoft thinks about that.
