I never use an LMG because I just find them annoying to use, when locked on targed they magically drift off and hitting moving NPCs is close to impossible. So having a large magazine is just useless when so many bullets miss, and reloading takes forever. I only use AR or SMG, combined with rifle or shotgun. One exception to this rule is Bullet King, it comes in handy against the large drone, but only then I would use one. In TD1 there were few missions where I would use an M249-B or Big All. But in this game NPCs come flying out spawn points so fast it's crazy, and nowadays there are times you don't even see them, they just pup up somewhere else.

Not have any problems with timed sections as long as they are reasonable and not set to tight so that any imperfection in game play makes you fail. But in this game they are long enough as it turned out. And to reply to another comment made by CategoryTheory, I think the main reason for first failure was hit registration. I used MK17 the first time, then later switched to M1A that cut time needed in half (more red stats in gear).

The puzzles are time consuming but part of the mission and once you completed them a few times they are only that. Easy to solve and in most cases the solution is presented on a golden platter, so not much of a puzzle if you ask me. But do like that play style as well, running around with an SMG-LD and use shield against some of the NPCs.

    Errr...so you're saying that you're a perfect candidate for my suggestion? :-)

(FWIW, though tagent to this discussion, LMGs work pretty well for me on NPCs, at least the M60 and the L68. But each to his own. If you never use it, that's all the more ammo for destroying static objects.)

Good Times is a beast. RPK is rock solid. MG5 has its moments too. I have no idea what ecto cooler is talking about [granted, I rarely use an LMG, but they have zero issue laying the lumber in my experience: LMG + Rifle = easy mode].
