That should make the difference clearer. If outriders ever starts offering season/battlepass and other paid and limited time events or content, by all means they have adopted the live service model. Until then it is an always online model. Even with the offer of dlcs, so long as the dlc is a one time paid expansion with no added monetization it's still not classified as live service.
Who makes those classifications? The publishers?

To me (and keep in mind this is purely my own opinion, I'm not trying to tell you what to think) that definition seems like splitting hairs to make it more palatable. Squeenix/PCF are already trying to play games with definitions, like calling their game a "Double A" game despite charging a full $60. So I'm less inclined to to base my opinion on a wiki definition, and more on how the game actually behaves.

Basically, if PCF/Squeenix clean up their server stability, fix matchmaking, balance, and continue to provide content free of charge(or release a FULL expansion instead of mini-DLCs or 'episodes') then it's all good. But I have VERY little faith in any game publisher's ability to resist the temptation to get sleazy with their monetization.

    We'll see what happens.

That's actually a really good point.

There's almost certainly some form of monetary incentive to take a deal like that, and further explains the "always online" decision.

That is really poor, myself i am at around 30-40 times but i play very little.

Most of issues has been fixed.
For example, I've been playing 3 days already, and there were 3 freezes only (game, not PC, and only one evening). Yesterday the game was smooth in both solo and coop.

    You pay to get online.

You paid to have the game.

You have to create an account.

    THAT IS LIVE SERVICE.

    Jeesh!
Actually I'm not, but feel free to wallow in your ignorance

Isn't that basically what I said at the end of my post which apparently "split hairs?" I could care less about outriders, the game does not interest me and I have no reason to defend it, I simply responded to your original question based on my understanding of what live service is and my knowledge of the fact that loot based games that aren't always online are subject to mass exploitation.

As for faith in publishers, that is precisely why I don't care to play it. After experiencing Destiny 1 and 2, Division 1 and 2 and then the straw to break the camel back Anthem, I am good on these looter games with little to no substance other than grind the same missions at end game for a 1% chance of a legendary or exotic or whatever they decide to call gold/yellow drops

    Forum says differently.......

Maybe a console problem because all i hear all night in game chat is my son saying "Crashed again, Game has frozen".....and this is from both my sons.....I myself mainly suffer from freezes, maybe it's because i don't co-op......both my sons co-op with each other.

Still not sure, why are you still discussing another game from another developers and another publisher here...
It's not even similar to the Division franchise!

You are going way too hard on something that could mean very little. Consider this. X youtuber discovers that mission 5 in outriders has a glitch where you kill the boss die and respawn to fight the boss again creating a loot cave scenario. You are always online, I see this and recognize an opportunity. I don't reconnect to their server for 2 months and farm every legendary mod, weapon and armor using that exploit. You use it for a day before it is patched.

Is that not a reason to have the game always online? Does that have anything to do with monetary incentive?

Point taken but to be fair most fans of the looter genre would either be playing or have some level of interest in a new looter. This is a community so there should be no real issues with players sharing their opinion/experience about that. Not like I have seen anyone on here saying people should quit Division to go outriders
