I see. By using Skill Tier, rather than Armor for the shield, one loses straight armor but retains shield strength and gains an increase to weapon damage. Interesting. I like it. Thank you for the tip!Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
It also makes the Artificer stronger.Originally Posted by BrokenFire319 Go to original post
The only reason, imho, to use Armor cores for a shield is if you want to share BA. Maybe a Belstone piece for the aRegen, Memento, or Sawyer's [shrug explosions, boost damage when parked].
Oh, wow. That video was very educational. I'd not realized that weapon handling at 20% or so made such a huge difference. This is something I'm going to have a serious look at. Thanks!Originally Posted by Imagine_Brata Go to original post
Correct! You're not creating a tank, but simply making your DPS build a little harder to kill. Smart use of a shield will let you stay out of cover longer to get off more shots than an "All Red" build with a Tier 0 shield, even if the "All Red" build does more damage.Originally Posted by BrokenFire319 Go to original post
Basically it's just a way to customize your preferred playstyle a little bit more. Here's how I would do it:
Technician
Memento
2 more armor pieces with yellow.
3 more armor pieces with red.
You end up with a Tier 5 shield and the same base weapon 90% weapon damage as an "All Red" build. Criticial hit damage and chance might be a bit less depending on the rolls on your gear, but you can come pretty close. The way this works is because of the Capacitor's unique weapon talent.
You're getting 4 skill tier cores from Technician(1), Memento(1), and 2 pieces of your gear.
You're getting 4 weapon damage cores from Memento(1) and 3 pieces of gear.
Which means Capacitor is getting 30% weapon damage from skill tier cores, and 60% weapon damage from red cores. It's the same base 90% weapon damage as a regular weapon using 6 red cores!
