BUG: MPX Optimal Range not functioning as intended.

I use the MPX quite often and normally I equip it with a ACOG for 20% more optimum range. Base optimum range is 21m, with the ACOG it is 26m (according to the inventory stats). At longer ranges, I have been noticing quite a large damage drop off and its hard to determine what range your target it is, I have been just been ignoring this issue assuming I was past the 26m mark. Decided to test a few options in the shooting range and found that the MPX damage is stable at 5m and 10m but at 15m there is a large damage drop off. With a base optimal range of 21m, this should not happen. With and without the ACOG equipped, I should be able to hit a 15 or 20m target with no damage loss. So this is the first problem. The actual optimal range of the MPX is not 21m, but seems to be 14m (roughly). If that is the case, equipping a ACOG should allow you to hit a 15m target with no damage drop off. Adding the ACOG or the muzzle device (for an additional 10% optimal range) changes nothing on the MPX, the damage numbers stay the same. So, the listed optimal range of the MPX does not appear to be 21m nor does adding any optimal range mods to the MPX change anything.

At first I thought this might be a bug in the shooting range but I repeated the same tests with other SMG's and they all respond within their listed optimal range and their optimal range is increased when adding corresponding mods to increase their optimal range.

I don't believe this is a bug in the shooting range though, as already mentioned, I noticed in-game behavior that reinforces my suspension that the optimal range on the MPX is not working as intended.

Have to try this myself, makes the MPX a much weaker weapon if true.

Multiple weapons seem to be bugged. I was using the mop today with 827k damage but my crit hits were only around 350k from within 10m. Something is definitely not right.

Hm...that could be an issue with the mod and not the stat itself, because i use the named MPX with perfect outsider exactly to be able to melt people at mid-long distances and works great

It's a total damage of all pellets (8 iirc)
And you've seen a crit from 1 pellet

    Works fine for me
Damage starts to drop between 20-25m without acog and between 25-35 with it

Which talent you run at your mpx? It looks like you are using stabilized talent for 80% increased stability for the cost of 35% range

Not sure how your assuming I would be running "Near Sighted" as a weapon talent, never mentioned anything about the weapon talent. I tested this with two normal MPX's, one with Strained as the weapon talent and one with InSync, shooting one shot at a time and reloading, so the weapon talent is irrelevant in my initial tests. Also tested with the Apartment named variant, all three behaved the same. Followed up with a identical test using a Vector and a Aug, both of which behaved as they should. This was last night. I just tested again as I type this and the problem is no longer present, damage is constant at 5m, 10m and 15m. Damage at 40m lowers if I remove the ACOG, so its now behaving how it should.

I would think if it was a firing range glitch that it would affect all of the guns, not just the MPX and since there has been no maintenance, nothing could of been hot fixed or fixed via a reboot. Strange behavior.

    Appreciate the positive feedback.

I think he was just searching for a plausible reason that might explain what you were seeing. (I.e., suggesting you check to see if you happened to have Near Sighted on the weapon.)

Nice bit of testing and analysis, by the way. I wish more people were so careful and rigorous before yelling "bug!"
