That's just naïve. It may be a "just a game," but the whole system of which this game is a part is both more complex and much more loosely coupled than the Apollo programme, and yet the game is being built and maintained at something on the order of 1% of the cost. (The figure I've seen for Apollo is $283 billion, inflation-adjusted. We should include in the overall cost of the game some allocation of the development costs of the huge amount of hardware and software on which it depends, including computer hardware from Intel and other computer vendors, graphics card hardware, Windows, graphics drivers, Ubi's Connect platform for certain parts of multi-player support, various third-party game engine components, etc. etc. etc.)Originally Posted by SirenianBody58 Go to original post
My usual disclaimer: I'm not saying that the various developers involved couldn't be doing a better job with all of this, just that it's way, way more complex than many naïve gamers here seem to believe.
None of which actually matters to the end user.Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post
We pay for a product/service. Regardless of what it takes to create that, when rhe service/product fails it is not the responsibility or concern of the end user to accept or remedy that failure.

Doesnt matter what time of the day/night i start a game.. i CTD after 5-10mins..
this started happening a alittle over 4 weeks ago.. when they had that extended patch.. (7 hours total i believe).. and ever since then, i get CTD..
i would think its a matter of back-tracking what was patched and seeing what caused the problem in detail.. but then again i do physics, not coding..
They should consider themselves lucky that it is just a game, and not some Medical, Manufacturing, ERP or other business software. If companies that make those have such issues they are out of business faster then they can say, 'We are sorry to hear that you're experiencing ...'. And it doesn't matter if you asking thousands or dollars, or much less, your products should work properly, even at the price of 1 dollar.Originally Posted by CategoryTheory Go to original post
Up until the beginning of February I had absolutely no problems in this game, no stutter, no crashes, only loading delays (server issue) spiked at times. Nowadays this stuff happens every day, on every hour, and only in this game. For now the 3-5 minute crashes are gone but it doesn't work as it should, and many times I am fighting against invisible NPCs. I also noticed since a week or so that sounds are audible minutes after then should have, red circles for grenade drops have vanished, and the list goes on and on. The crashes we had are just the tip of iceberg but this problem became very noticeable for everyone that is (or tried) playing the game.
