option selecting just refers to 1 input/option you use to cover 2 or more options your opponent can do in any given situation. every fighting game has option selects. hell if you wanna get technical even sports games have option selects take MLB the show its a 0-2 count and my opp wants to protect the plate, i throw a curveball in the dirt bc he either swings and will not foul it or hit it in fair play since i spiked it in the dirt or its a ball and the count goes to 1-2 and maybe i open up top zone fastball but i don't lose anything 1 choice to maximize my results. the only option select in FH that is more slanted in its user's favor than should be regarding risk/reward is gb OS because you can do it while OOS. every other option select has a perfectly viable counter and its on you to make the correct read. zone OS can be dealt with heavy feint light if in frame advantage as well as heavy feint and parry the zone. dodge bash option selects can be feint dodged depending on timing and dodge attack option selects can be dealt similarly to bashes or dodges depending on the type of dodge attack. also ranked duels are a joke tbf not any sort of realistic measurement for "skill" if you're looking for some amalgamation of skill rankings the doms series ubi just did showcased the best teams in NA and EU.

I should specify and say zone option selects should not be a thing. A zone is a zone and a parry attempt is a parry attempt. Zone attacks shouldn't be capable of parrying.
Also, CC option selecting is one of the more cancerous things this game has. I know they have talked about removing CC light openers and I very heavily agree they need to go.
Feint to light is the universal method to counter any option select unless you're Conq. Conq doesn't have to care about that.
We know the devs at least partially support option selecting via zones. They did take a stance against charge based option selects. I would say that overall aside from the zone one any other option select isn't intended.
And for clarification I am referring to parrying option selects only. Technically you can parry option select with almost anything. Zones, bashes, gbs..even things like nobushi's back light.
This is possible because the game prioritizes parrying as an action above everything else. An input sanitizer would fix this issue easily. As well as devs making parrying the lowest priority action when any given heavy input is used with other things.
However I imagine the reason the devs have done neither is likely because it is proving to be a more difficult task to do due to the games code or something. Ore maybe they're trying to find a solution that doesn't axe parrying with zones. But finding it hard to make a solution that doesn't end up making the game feel clunky. That was a primary concern with them addressing charge option selects.
However I would hope the issue is mote important to address these days as even as a lowely skilled player as I regularly run into bash and gb option selects these days.
