I was scrolling on twitter when I noticed UBISOFT have shown some numbers related to GRB's last event. I dig up to see if they've done more or less the same kind of report back in Wildlands and they did !
As we all know, transparency about numbers and figures isn't exactly the gaming industry strongest point. Most of the time, it's either speculation or second hands data.
So here are two official figures recording the number of players who have :
Reached Scott Mitchell in Bolivia for the GRFS event.
Went to Auroa during the Amber Sky event.
Some may argue one can makes numbers to tell whatever he wants. Therefore, if we consider those figures as picture of the player base at a given moment, it show us the player's hemorrhage between the last two IP of the license. Of course, lot of factors not tied to the game can explain those numbers. Tho, if you have play those game or have spent enough time in this very forum, you may see those number side by side as a relevant clue of the state of the game or, at least, its popularity among players.
If we consider those numbers accurate, and they are as they come from UBISOFT, less than half of the GR player base from GRW by the time of the GRFS event is playing GRB by the time of the Amber Sky event.
To me, it tells a lot.
If anything, those Breakpoint numbers are artificially inflated. For Wildlands, you at least had to own the game, in order to play the event. But Amber Sky was released in conjunction with a free weekend. So how many of those 1.3 million were actually Rainbow fans that only downloaded the game for that weekend? Or how many played the game using the friend pass?
I didn't consider the free WE, you may be right on this one. If the number is inflated for the GRB event as you suggest, and as far as we know, it's speculative, then it's pretty sad.Originally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
Nevertheless, the drop is massive.
Do not despair folks, I am sure this new cross-over is what the game needed to get back to the Ghost Recon roots and the proper Ghost Recon experience. I just know it with all my heart. Remember to keep on giving your positive and eloquent feedback and they will continue to listen to the community and bring content, bugs and fixes from all of that feedback. YEAH!!!
