The tale of Ubisoft Paris and the lost identity.
Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, there was a man of much power. This man had so much power that he had his own kingdom and he was the all-powerful ruler, this man was called Yves guillemot. The kingdom of Ubi was made up of different regions a few of them being Montreal, Quebec, and Paris. Within these powerful regions, there were clans that ensured the taxes came in and in a timely manner to the powerful ruler. Some of these clans were known as the Ghosts, Rainbow, and assassins clans.
Year after year these clans did their part and made sure that the money came in and the kingdom functioned properly but something started to go a miss, Yves had been called to a meeting by his closest circle who had some bad news for him. They told him, Yves, the kingdom is suffering we are not getting our taxes from the region of Paris, there is something going on there. So on hearing this deeply troubling news Yves set about to find out what the problem could be.
So it was decided that all members of the region would be given a survey to see just why the ghost clan were no longer bringing in the money that he was expecting. Over a period of time, Yves sent his spies to frequent the towns, markets, and bars and to secretly report back to him all that they find. After a while not only had the surveys of the people been gone through and filtered Yves spies had also given him the news that he had sought.
A meeting was called between all the powerful men and women of the kingdom of Ubi and Yves chaired the meeting to share the worrying findings. What they found shocked the kingdom to it's core and that was the dreadful news that the region of Paris had taken away the identity of the ghost clan. There was a mixture of gasps and silence in the room as all could not believe what they were hearing. Unfortunately for the ghost clan not one member of theirs was aloud to attend to voice what was best for them or the region of Paris and mistakenly Yves gave the power back to Paris to find the lost identity of the ghost clan and return order and payment to the kingdom.
Unsure just how to go about this monumental search, Paris reached out to their trusted advisers from other regions who told them to find the lost identity you much first seek of the identity of others and see how they fit. So off they went and found the clan of the terminator but this left more frustration to the people.
Then they traveled far and wide to the long lost forgotten time of the splinter clan and although the people were very happy to see the rise of this once powerful and much-loved clan they wanted to see them have their own clan once more not taking over the ghost clan. The people were somewhat happier but still majorly disappointed that this clan was stuffed with drone bosses.
Then they went off in a different direction to the already long destroyed Rainbow clan, who was once a very great force to be reckoned with but now no more than a comedy knock-off. Their loots were almost unrecognizable and only their name remained. Paid thought to themselves yes we have heard our people talk about the once-great Rainbow we shall take this identity and put them in with the ghost the people will surely be pleased. But the people were not pleased for the Rainbow clan that was longed for no longer remained. And so the people in the Paris region yelled once more.
The people of the ghost clan grew sad and frustrated, angry and disappointed for all they wanted was the return of their own clan, the clan that brought them to power and success. The leaders of the Paris region said we hear you and we understand your frustrations, we are listening and we know how to fix our broken region. They told everyone to hold tight within a few short weeks we will restore their faith and bring power back to the region. The ghost sat patiently waiting.
Weeks went by and a new rumor had emerged that had the people of Paris in despair not only had they forgone their word to tell them and there was still not a return to the ghost clan they heard it from another kingdom. How could Paris does this to their own people that they have to hear this awful news from another kingdom altogether? The ghosts shouted and demanded answers. Paris told them we have now finally found our missing identity it is the clan of Croft. The clan of explorers to help you find that next magical experience.
So as we come to the end of our story what lesson is there to be learned? What was missing was already under their nose the whole time and also when you tell people that your clan has lost its identity and that is why the money is not coming in, don't carry on in search of other identities!
Please can we have an end to filling ghost recon with everything but ghost recon?
