That's a great suggestion for Sweat Mode. I don't use Sweat Mode specifically because I can't stand not knowing what my score was. I'm guessing someone thinks that some players using Sweat Mode don't want the distraction or interruption of score, but even if this is the case, there is a simple solution that would please everybody. Add a menu option like, "Show score and scorecard after each dance in Sweat Mode." Check or uncheck the box as desired.
Rather than going back to how it used to be, I would prefer to see the Just Dance team get creative and find new ways to engage dancers on the WDF (or other new immersive experiences besides the WDF). I agree that more variety is needed. Surely, there are many innovative ideas that they could use rather than going backwards. If I really like a feature from JD 2020, for example, I can just go play JD 2020 to relive that experience. When I buy JD 2022, I'm hoping for something new. Every year they seem to advertise a revamped WDF, but usually it is very similar to what we had in previous years.
I have a few ideas, but surely the creativity of the JD team can do even better. They are welcome to use my suggestions below (or alter them as they see fit, including changing my suggested titles.)
Disc Jockey Madness. The game would play about 30 seconds of one dance, then abruptly change to a different dance and play about 30 seconds of the dance, and so on. After about 6 dances, it would end. Someone would have to figure out how to cut the different dances into suitable pieces. This isn't like mashups where the same song plays for a few minutes while the coaches from different dances appear. What I have in mind, the song changes every 30 seconds and the coach matches the song. It's not necessarily the beginning or end of a song, some random point in the song. Every time this comes up, the collection of song clips could be different.
Team Building. This involves a song where the dance has 2 to 4 coaches. If the dance is a quartet, there will be 4 people on each team. The WDF would automatically put people into teams. You don't get to choose your coach. The WDF assigns you a coach. When you dance to the song, you see your score above your coach, but you also see your team members' scores above their coaches. (If you're dancing with friends at home, everybody has to use the same coach. For a feature that just comes up once in a while, that should be tolerable.) The game adds up all of the scores for your team to make a team score. The WDF might remember how well or poorly the event worked out for you in the past and use that to help build more or less favorable teams for you in the future. Maybe the game will use projective scoring in the event that a team member quits in the middle of a dance, so as not to ruin it for everyone else on the team...
VIP. I liked the VIP dance for Katy Perry's Birthday in JD 2015, except that there was only one VIP dance. It would be cool to have a few VIP dances where you get to see a real person do the dance and try to beat a (reasonable) score. (ideally, it would be a reasonable challenge for the dance on any platform or mode of game play.) There have been a couple of VIP Unlimited dances in recent years, but they didn't get featured on the WDF (at least not with the main dances of the year).
Backward dancing. Perhaps this would only apply to a select few dances. Make a mirror image of the coach dancing to the song, and score the game for the mirrored dance. This challenges players to know the dances forward and backward. This might be unique to the WDF, if so, then sorry there is no way to practice other than to visit the WDF regularly.
Relay Dancing. This again involves team members. Perhaps it would involve extreme dances. One member is scored for the first 30 moves of the dance, a different member is scored for the next 30 moves of the dance, etc. You can do the whole dance, but just one set of 30 moves for each person on the team contributes to the team's score for the dance.
Multiply This. You do a dance like normal, but the scoring isn't normal. During the dance, many of the moves have their scores multiplied by 2, 3, 5, or 10 times. Maybe even a Gold Move can get a multiplier and be worth even more than usual. The highest possible score won't be 13,333, but will be much higher.
The JD team is obviously very creative. If they are challenged to come up with creative ways to engage dancers in the WDF or new immersive dancing experiences, I bet they will come up with some cool and fun ideas. There will always be some people who like it better the way it used to be, and you can't please everybody all the time. But it might be worth exploring refreshing ideas each year.
