Sorry to say that I'm experiencing difficulties with the core challenges also, specifically the ones associated with opening treasure chests. None of the chests I've opened are registering. I'm not very far into the game, as I only started yesterday, and I don't want to go too far in case I run out of chests. I was just wondering if those challenges apply to certain types of chests, that I haven't encountered yet.
I've recently finished Watch dogs: Legion, and those challenges worked flawlessly. The challenges accompanying the games are almost as much fun and addictive as the trophies.
Thanks for reading.

It is true that sometimes not every action registers for the core challenges. When I finished my first playthrough I had all the outfit visual, which is over 150, but for the challenge less than 150 were counted.
I fixed this with the help of A New God, as those outfits are also counted, and playing a new game right until getting the first new outfit piece, as at that point I only required one more, but there is obviously some instability.

Hello there!
I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered some trouble when completing core challenges.
dogman922 - Would you be able to let us know which specific challenge you're having trouble with? There are three treasure core challenges that I'm familiar with. In my experience, I don't think these were limited to specific types of chests, such as Epic chests or Guarded chests.
Are you playing with an online connection enabled as well? If you're playing the game offline, the challenges may not update until you're connected to the internet again.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Hi Q. I've seen that some players have also been able to get challenges to complete by starting a new game or new game+, but we understand that this isn't the ideal solution.

Ubi.Borealis,
Thanks for replying. I didn't reply because the problem sorted after about ten chests. Sorry for that, I was enjoying the game so much. The challenge was treasure hunter for opening 10 chests, but through progression develops into Chestravaganza (200 chests). That was when I was starting the game, and before the chests started to count. I'm now at the end of the game, ready to face off against Typhon, and have opened every chest. I played the game online, and once the chests began counting I haven't had an issue.
I knew this would come back to haunt me, but the game now tells me I have collected 59/60 weapon visuals. I have checked online, and I have collected all weapon visuals. The early chests that didn't register have cost me 250xp for levelling up, all because of one weapon visual.
I see from your post that some challenges may be completed in new game+. This may be the answer as I have to start a new game+ for another challenge anyway (ready for round 2). Are all chests reset for new game+? If so that's not a big deal. The game is so good, I wouldn't mind playing it again. Failing that I'll try the dlc like Hi Q suggested.
Thanks again.

No worries, I'm glad that it sorted out for the most part, however, it must be frustrating that the game is stating you are one short of the total weapon visuals. When you start a New Game+, it will return all the chests to locked states again, so you should be able to re-open them. To note, the chests rotate in type when you start New Game+, so example: one that wasn't guarded before might become guarded.
Let me know if I can answer anything else!

The core challenges are just poorly designed when it's not possible to distinguish Core Challenges from the main game and the ones exklusive to the DLCs.
At least some have a green background for distinguishing.
But That's a Start: Full upgrade a piece of gear, An Apple a Day: Reach the maximum health capacity and Putting in Work: Reach the maximum stamina capacity seem like they can be unlocked in the main game.

Thanks for this feedback, Hubertsn - I understand you've had difficulty knowing which challenges are just for the DLC, and which are for the main game, and that the three you've noted can be done in the main game.
I've gone ahead and passed this feedback on to our teams to investigate further internally. Let me know if you've any further thoughts or quesitons about this!
