Never heard of (game-) addictions ? Never heard of abusive manipulative mechanics build in to trigger these behaviours ? You don’t understand the term “ethically friendly” ? Just ignoring scientific facts ?
I surely might agree this could work the opposite way in your mom's basement, I don't mind at all.

what I don't agree with, is the way you're trying to play addictions card in something you're not obliged to do.
might just as well accuse Apple of selling their computers to you while knowing you can't afford them.

We got used to be able to collect every possible thing in the game but it doesn't have to be, some things needs a little extra effort and this is the case, it motivates people to play in bigger teams, if nothing else. Since missing this pack doesn't impair much of anyone's progress, it can't be said that players are forced to get it.

A complain could be motivated by the fact that normally achievable packs were nerfed to introduce this unreachable one, if this was the case (I don't know.)
It’s true that missing the 30K doesn’t impair much of the progress, but that’s not the issue. The fear of missing out is in play here, it doesn’t matter to some players if the rewards are worthless, they’re still gonna go after them. They’re not forcing players directly, but I assume they know what they’re doing, and it is forcefully in a way. These players will in turn have to acquire an even more disproportionate amount of points for the team path since a good number of teammates will realize it’s not worth the effort. It’s true that this could motivate those players to join bigger teams, but I’m not sure if all of them would take this step. In any case, the main request would be to lower those point amounts because they are correlating less and less to the rewards that are given (of course, they do it for the sake of an easier attempt to have a longer longevity for the game, but I think they should look for more creative ways of doing that).
