    Reflex Guard Remove Pls.

Please remove it!! It does not take that much time to remove it from assassins. I really do try to block as a assassin but it puts them at a huge disadvantage since I can't guard in a direction completely. Assassins are already at a disadvantage due to lack of renown Gain, weak health, and terrible feats. Please don't let there defense be ruined too.

Just saying removed reflex guard or improve the duration of it because I struggle blocking with assassins in 4v4s ganking.

The devs already said they won't make guard state changes. This probably also means they won't nerf Static guard characters ability to dodge and block at the same time which is bull. More than likely the game's code is too spaghetti for them to make such a drastic change. It's why we still have match rating in game even though the feature does nothing.

We need For Honor 2, not for more content or anything, just so they can simplify the coding with current data plugged into a brand new sea of code.

It's almost required at this point to properly balance anything effectively.

I still feel like a sequel is in the works already. It just doesn't make sense to me to keep the game running with new lore and balance updates and still adding new heroes while also pseudo admitting they are so swamped in old code that they can't efficiently update their game.

    What?

It doesn't make sense. Why not take the necessary steps to properly fix the game?

It seems to me like they are only changing things that can easily carry over to a new game engine. Anything that would be easier to just rebuild from scratch on a new engine, they ignore. Why? SEQUEL!!

A sequel could easily make guard changes. A sequel would not, however, make it easier or harder to build a new hero. The data like timings, move set, etc. Can easily be carried over to another engine, so building it now just puts them ahead when the sequel drops.

Anything too difficult to update within the mess of code is likely being left for the sequel, and anything easily transferrable is being worked on now.

That's just my opinion. Things just don't add up at face value so I'm creating a scenario that would explain the weirdness, to me at least.

To be fair the code comment they admitted to is very, VERY old. Like probably mentioned in year 2 levels of old. Regardless of when though it is a bit horrifying to know that much needed changes are likely impossible due to engine issues. I am not very familiar with coding so i'm not able to say if it's as simple as plugging in the current heros into a new engine without needing some updating.

But I do agree with you overall. The series would benefit from a re-launch. It very much feels like they're making this extra push for such a thing. Why else would they bother making tutorials for heros at this point in the game's life span? Why host month long tournaments that are officially sponsored with a good chunk of cash? Why support the competitive scene at all 5 years in? The only reason would be them wanting to continue support for the franchise for a long time. They already don't have the budget to support the game like they used to. So it doesn't make sense to think current FH is it.

Blocking while dodging is not Bs, dude try to imagine fighting a gryphon with no guard while dodging, that's nightmare fuel you propose

    Exactly.

I don't know much about coding either but it's safe to assume it would be easy to just copy paste numbers over like damage, stam, health, etc. It would also be easier to rebuild characters on a new engine when you already have the model and moveset.

The guard stuff though is just buried in code most likely. It would require changing years of code without severely altering a number of other things. It would be easier to rebuild from scratch, but they obviously wouldn't want to waste time and money rebuilding it on the current game engine.

The way this game is treated is like it doesn't matter to them, yet they also plan to keep it going, contradicting it not mattering.

    It's just weird.

All the signs are there for an upcoming sequel. Slowed production while also still heavily supporting what's already there.

A dying game gets abandoned. A flourishing game gets well deserved, properly thought out content. For Honor is getting neither of these things. It's being supported well without any serious new content.

More than likely, the For Honor budget is being dumped on a sequel but they wanted to take advantage of next gen abilities so they have waited and are now experimenting with the PS5 and XSX/XSS.

Ubisoft hasn't built a new game engine in a long time. They use their AC engine for most of their current games (FH included) and it would be wise to assume they are building a new game engine for next gen consoles (and more powerful PCs if course).

If they are indeed building a new game engine as we speak, then that's where For Honor will go. Whether it's an upgraded port or a full on sequel, there is definitely something in the works.

It absolutely is. It's why gryphon's heavy isn't a threat at the end of the chain and why many other mix ups are not as threatening.

Just give every assassin +40 stamina as compensation.

That's... actually not a terrible idea... you could even give heavy characters a little more damage for increased stam consumption. Really make them feel like tanks.

Assassin's having more stamina just makes sense though. Or perhaps just reduced stam consumption?
