Pretty just wondering why he gets or needs such a long attack range. It keeps he outside of the New Kid zapper range. Plus he's able to stay well protected behind the front line.

Nope, I also saw him attacking outside of zap range during the weekend. Very annoying.

his ability is really cheap when you compare him to hyperspeed or warboy,

Probably true, but some characters will be fine with attacking from top or bottom part of the game field, while others will tend to walk closer / walk towards the middle. I guess its range related as well as not very accurate (as you pointed out).
