He's not talked about because there's nothing to talk about. He's an absolute monster to people who play passively and try to play the reaction game and get blown up by him.
But to anyone else who has even semit decent game sense he's a joke of a character. He has no chase, his unblockable heavies are only unblockable at the end meaning you only ever have to learn one timing to option select him. Hug is still reactable even with the animation and indicator changes and still has high recovery. He's got zero answers to bashes meaning anytime he tries to mix up with timings he's just bashed. Also has very slow rotations meaning unless his team brings the fights to him he's likely not going to be in many big fights.
The only saving factors goki has is in his team fighting capability. If his heavies land or are blocked his recovery is as good as everyone else. Which was a big buff for him. And it's not hard to setup a hug gank. His T4 and ability to ignore knock downs with rock steady hard Cary him though.
Goki is a pub stomp hero. Not a viable pick in any serious team comp. And he badly needs this TG he's in.
There are three things I don't like about shugo.
One is that his hug gives him full stamina but doesn't give stamina back to the target (unlike cent or jorm, who both have to work harder to get the crowd control move out).
Two is that if you dodge his hug you can heavy him. That's too much of a punish.
Three is related to 4v4, and is his feat that makes you fall if you eat his heavy. Because his heavies basically hit you from nowhere if he charges them because he doesn't need to be locked onto you.
Oh and his HA on light, but that's going. Right ubi?

Dodge Gryphs kick, or nobu kick, or a full charge bash (cent, warden, WM), etc. None of these things heal the user yet dodging them awards a heavy. It would be ridiculous if you couldn't properly punish a whiffed hug.
My only problem with him is the hyper armor on light, the healing property on the hug, the fact that it doesn't reset opponent's stamina, and his 4th feat that knocks you down when he hits you with a heavy attack in dominion/breach (that feat needs a huge nerf because it's one of the most overpowered feats in ganking). Generally speaking, I am against characters that can heal themselves without a feat no matter how risky/dangerous the move is. The only 2 moves in the entire cast who do that kind of stuff would be Shugoki's hug and Shaman's bite. The healing needs to go away because it's simply not fair no matter how you look at it and be replaced with 5 extra damage.

For Shugo, to remove the heal and balance it after, more damage and possibly some stam damage would be required. I imagine having your spine broken like that would impair movement, so stam damage would make sense.
For Shaman, the bleed bite could just compile more bleed damage. You are literally ripping a chunk out of your opponents throat. Pretty sure that anyone would bleed from that.
The fact that we have enough time to dodge AND heavy him is worst than having the time to dodge and gb him. Why? Because having the time to dodge then heavy means his recovery is far longer than it would be if it only allowed for a gb.Originally Posted by MrBdur Go to original post

That being said, in less than a month we will see a new TG and Shugo Test V2. Can't wait to see what they are tinkering with now. We all know the opener light is losing HA (WHOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!) but we don't know what else is being changed. They will likely be keeping the dodge headbutt and the chase move, but the hug was the biggest concern, having removed it's armor as well.
