    Performance Parts Improvements

Gearheads, with the upcoming Season 2 Episode 1. we plan on updating the way players progress within each vehicle category. Before getting into details, we wanted to emphasize the importance of your feedback about some of the points we plan on addressing.

Our Dev Team investigated the current in-game progression to determine what we needed to improve. Based off our own conclusions, and thanks to your feedback we are going to change the way Performance Parts are awarded before reaching the maximum vehicle level.

    Current Status

We identified several issues in relation with the acquisition of Performance Parts versus the popularity of each vehicle category.

As you can see in the chart above, players have reached the maximum Performance Part level in certain categories more than others. This is not correlated to the popularity of the discipline.

The issue is prominent for Drift and Demolition Derby categories. Despite being among the most played vehicles, a very limited proportion of our players managed to reach the maximum vehicle level.

Gaining vehicle parts is mainly done though participating in events. Up until Season 1, finishing all the events of a single Vehicle Category in normal difficulty does not guarantee any competitiveness in Hard or Ace difficulties.

Currently, replaying previously won races is mandatory to reach a higher vehicle level. One of the most notable examples is the Drag Category. Its progression is hindered by a limited number of Performance Parts being provided to the player.

Additionally, a large part of our player base has not maxed out a lot of vehicle categories with a full set of parts. Street Race and Hyper Car are a bit less affected by this tendency, but we believe that there is room for improvement.

We have to consider how players are currently grinding these parts, and how to foster competitiveness for everyone and for every vehicle category.

Currently, finishing all the events of a single Vehicle Category in normal difficulty do not guarantee any competitiveness in Hard or Ace difficulty. This often means that races need to be replayed until enough performance parts have been dropped.

We consider that the current situation could be discouraging, not intuitive enough and can even be a blocker for newcomers to access more challenging difficulties or Summits.

    Our intentions:

We plan on addressing how quickly the vehicle level progression is achieved for each category. We consider that it is currently too slow and that it sometimes relies on tedious parts farming. We would like players to be able to replay races and events in Hard difficulty as soon as they have finished the category in the normal mode. This should result in 60% more loot overall as well as a much quicker progression within each vehicle category. Our goal is to increase the overall number of players reaching the maximum vehicle level for each category.

As an example, competitiveness in Drag races and in Hard difficulty will be achieved after completing the nine events in Normal mode. And we plan on doing the same for the Ace difficulty, as the required vehicle level will also be reached after nine races in Hard mode.

In short, it should be possible to start looting max level parts after a total of 50 minutes of playtime in Drag race. Before the update, it would have taken around three to four hours while replaying the same races quite extensively.

The progression will be indexed on the number of events available for each vehicle category. Our goal is to streamline the progression. Playing each event once per category should be enough to allow players to move on to the next difficulty.

That can obviously vary a bit due to the random aspect of the looting system. However, following this change, we are confident that getting access to the Ace mode will be much quicker. It will also reduce the necessity of replaying the same races and events in a difficulty that you have already beaten to achieve competitiveness in each vehicle category.

Let us know your thoughts and comments about this change.

I didn't even do races to max all of mine. Besides aerobatics I just found a road where I could pick up 5-10 live event crates in 10 minutes and repeated that route by logging off and on to refresh it since races were so slow. Was way faster. That's how bad race events were.

I just don't get why the freestyle category exists, it's just not fun (except the derby), also, if you guys merge some category together, this could fix a lot of issue with players playing just one category or two.

The problem of people not maxing their disicplines in most cases is hur dur haha exotic car goes brrr and dont touch anything outside of SR, but in other cases is because the mode itself is boring (AB) or sometimes because it doesnt matter (Drift, get x173 parts even underleveled and you are set).

On the other hand, while the change looks good, it also affects the difficult curb, at this point i think is better to just remove the grind level numbers and have cars all be 280/maxed. HAve races in their respective difficult only drop the parts and maybe tweak normal and hard difficult to drop specific things like "mode 3 for random parts, mode 1 and 2 to get specific affixes".

Lazy people who wont farm will still be lazy and suck in the summit anyway

Also the thing is, while i said some people only play SR, is also because how much focus it gets, not only some disciplines are boring/disliked, it also get 0 content, so like why do X thing when it never gets any content and barely if ever gets featured in the summit? that's another point tbh.

Anyway back to topic: lmao imagine not playing jetsprint

Well, all of my vehicles are having perfect sets, so I will not be affected. But I assume it will be a nice feature for novice players or players who want to max out their cars.

I would really appreciate it if this idea would be accompanied by all the requested quality of live improvements regarding loot/parts:
    • Give us the opportunity to create sets that can be switched between vehicles easily
    • Auto-scrap for unneeded parts
    • only golden parts in timeline progression after reaching icon level 1000 (or better 500)
    • showing affixes in the mailbox view and/or adding affixes to the auto-scrap feature (e.g. "scrap all parts which are not golden nitro")
    • re-work of the crazy re-roll system - I don't care about the money, but it takes way too much time to optimize a car set. And it's sooooo boring!

One more remark: The statistics show that the race classes which have been abandoned by the devs are abandoned by the players, too. So maybe it would be a good idea to give all race types more attention and add a broader variety of races and vehicles.

First of all: Why do you ask for feedback when YOU DO NOT LISTEN to player feedback in the first place ? This forum is full of good intended feedback that remains unheard.
Second: Your intended improvements will improve NOTHING in reality.

The Crew 2 has the potential to be one of the best arcade racing games, but it IS NOT and WILL BE NOT with current approach form devs.

You have posted some nice looking charts. But it seems you do not understand what are they really showing. You are missing one key point in your charts. Try to look at players` Icon levels. Almost all players above Icon level 3000 are in the first 2 000 places among 2 300 000 players total ! That clearly shows that you are unable / not willing to make long term custormers. You just need a new players who buy your product. After that, you do not care. This intended "UPGRADE" is just another trap to lure new players. Long terms players already have everything they need, or they just do not care to upgrade vehicles for disciplines they do not like.

To make it clear: YOUR GAME IS BORING after a while.

The reason players are not upgrading their cars is that most disciplines are boring after some time. I had several friends who stop playing after reaching Icon level 1000. Some stop playing before that. Summits are ravaged by unresolved bugs and unpunished chaters and they are too little to keep most players playing this game.

If you are really willing to push Crew 2 to be a better game, start listen to the community. Give the players good reason to play more. Add quality rewards for every 1000 Icon levels. Reward players for being loyal, give them nice and exclusive cars for their effort. Instead of crying that players do not upgrade their vehicles, add interesting content, so players have a reason for doing so.

If you must increase upgrade rate for vehicles, add an option to exchange parts we do not need for part we really need. For example. change 5 fame magnet for 1 nitro. I had several LIVE REWARD SNIFFER in one perf part for Dragster Corvette, but I had no nitro for that particular part. I would like to have an option to change SNIFFER for NITRO at exchange rate 5:1. This also applies to every vehicle catogory.

Another improvement in season 2 could be to remove annoying things:
Please tell me what is the point of overly aggresive NPC drivers ? It is common that two vehicles are blocking an intersection and the only option player has is to ram an NPC vehicle or to avoid collision by going off road, which means to lose a lots of speed or crash into the tree/building. Also there is no point in puting cars on the right spot on racing line, that you will crash, or lose speed.
Also fix and improve your net code. I have lost a few personal records, several thousands of followers and much more Bucks for being disconnected from SOLO RACE ! I am also experiencig lags in SOLO RACES ! This is not acceptable. And NO, I am not interested in creating support ticket for this as well as I am not interested in links where I can read how to open ports, set my router and such. I have played / am playing several games without such problems, so my side is not an issue here.

Only reason for things like this which is going on my mind is that you do not want me to play your game. I do not need to play your game if you do not want me to.

I'll preface this post with the following: I beat this game on the PS4 after about 30 hours, had a pretty good time, and moved on. Would have liked racing lines on street or hypercar races because looking down at the mini-map while going 220+ miles per hour can really suck. Would have liked slightly less aggressive rubber-banding. But... oh well. I had my kicks and the purchase was worthwhile.

I heard about The Hunt seasonal events and decided to play the game again on the PC. Better resolution, better FPS, etc..

You've increased the number of races by almost 50% since launch. Race lines now exist for street and hypercar races. Rubber-banding seems toned down in a lot of instances. The game seems a lot more stable than I remember it being. I have few complaints. You clearly give a damn about your product and you've maintained support all this time.

The one grumble I still have (but until now accepted as the nature of the live service beast) was that progression seemed a bit borked. For example, I had to replay all nine or so alpha prix races about five times to get my car in max level parts. Even then, I was only getting green parts from races and I got more brakes than I could shake a stick at. I ultimately have fallen back to my old PS4 tactic to finish up a vehicle. Namely, fly around the map looking for LIVE crates that seem to have a guaranteed upgrade part in them to finish up a vehicle / get a higher quality part.

You addressing the grind and making progression changes is a very welcome and utterly, completely unexpected development. Thanks.

Also, I understand if my opinion means very little as a consumer. :-P There are so many games out there that I tend to play one to completion and move on to the next. Yours is one of the few that I have replayed in full and I'll likely drift on back for seasonal events... but otherwise I've beaten every event but the 12 drift races and the 10 demolition derby events. I have 44 skills or so left, too. I'm on the tail-end of my second playthrough and I've had a good time. Thus, I might not be the hardcore, dedicated fan you're trying to placate, haha.

Everything here is true. With nothing to do in free roam but explore and drive, so lack of free roam activities, broken headlights, awful short night cycle with bright night time with tons of other bugs why stay? If you kept these players longer you'd make more money than the occasional amount you get from sales from the game, and the already few who buy vanities. Notice the big difference from rally raid to drag race? That and the ones above that one on the chart with less are never or rarely in the summit events. Also don't summit event automatically give max parts when gold sets are given out? Street race is the most common with the most vehicles why do you think its the highest? Hypercar is obviously popular and has a lot I think its close to having the second most cars but its in summit event a lot also. Jetsprint has 4 vehicles, and its the lowest no surprise there, rarely in summit events. I said this once but 95% of the players I see in game don't even hit Icon levels they are usually the lowest newb ranks.

Edit: Was looking at wrong chart but all points still stand even when looking at correct one. Correlation could be also be how often you've been giving out set rewards in summit events. Because even if I haven't maxed out that discipline I would still get maxed out parts. I know because I got maxed out hovercraft parts before even farming parts for it. You guys do like to give out Street race and Hypercars sets a lot more than others. Plus when most summit events only do certain diciplines of course your gonna want sets for it.

Great changes! This is help me finally finish off those classes I wanted to max out.

One thing I'd like to see improvement on is how much cash doled out for completing events. Selling cars I never wanted to own too! I think one thing that would help the enjoyment of the game is just being able to try out more cars. The summit is a great way to encourage this, but it's always a fight to decide if I want to keep saving for that hypercar I want or cater to the summit. I think the more ability I have to try out the vast amount of cars and customize them the better.

I also miss the longer events like the rallies in the Crew 1. Alongside the reasons to explore. But it may be too late to add this stuff until the next game. Basically the summit, desire to try different cars, upgrade them is the only reason to play the game.

I like the new events that have been added recently. And of course the fresh cars. I'd like the idea of if you get the motorpass once that if you complete it you will get enough CC to be able to do the next one as well.

this thread feels like a smokesreen to cover up the fact that they will do nothing about the motorpass payout
