I have played with lots of real good players and they will tell you that going into legendary with all reds is asking for trouble, and that having some armor can and will save your life in there, and not just yours but others too.

    Dead people don't do dps.

And then there is the PVP side of things, that mask is very nice for PVP.....not that i do PVP but i intend to very soon, just putting a build togethor:

3 x Hunters (rolled with armor)
    2 x Sokolov (wicked)
    1 x Ridgeways
    1 x Vector (sadist)
    1 x Scorpio

Not sure if they changed something about legendary since last I've been there but 2 full reds with 1 healer and 1 skill guy or cc guy blows through any legendary if you know what you are doing in terms of managing the spawns and choke points. Assuming the reds are highly optimized and the healer can put out a full heal with a chem

Yep, having a healer is a different scenario (as long as he/she knows his stuff)......but doing randoms healers (good ones) are hard to come by.

EDIT: Anyway, i'm going off track...my point was that the mask is pretty decent and can be used in all kinds of builds.

I don't disagree with that at all.

Seriously, I think they are running out of ideas. Not a slam, just a fact.

Heck, if I was the planner/designer I don't have a clue what my next "original" gear set or talent would be. They've covered just about every angle in the game with the existing pieces and brand sets.

I guess it comes down to context. I see all the best speedruns being done with all red builds. The second you bring other people into the equation in a team situation, the dynamic and scaling changes. An all red build has teammates to get them back up and to draw fire.

I fully operate in the realm of optimal gameplay. There's no question than armor can help. But when looking at optimal builds, that hollow man mask doesn't do anything for me and would be scrapped.

That's the perfect scenario, a group that runs with each other day in day out and know all the choke points etc etc, or a group that all know what they are doing.

Perfect scenario's are hard to come by, hence that is why i said armor is a must when doing legendary's when doing randoms, you just never know what to expect and that extra armor can make all the difference.

My point was the mask is not bad, take away the health damage and YES....it is bad

My 2 cents...That's a big fat NOPE, another POS sold by vendor.

Let alone, it's not really needed. It doesn't make or break a build. The "operator" does, and if they suck, no matter what gear they are wearing, they will still SUCK!

    Toodles!

Hollowman is good for AR builds (hollow, fenris, fox, ceska, grupo and improvised gloves/holster or WH) you are basically going for full CHD/CHC build combined with health dmg from hollow and gun (second multiplicative dmg is Dmg to target out of cover) + technician spec for extra dmg to health based enemies (tank, dog, chungus). And armor on hollowman + technician spec are boostin ur shield so you can stand few hits when peaking and when dogs and chunguses bursting (full red hollowman can be used in group but it is hard to get and trust me that extra 10% hazard + 170k armor can save your *** when you get bleeding from chungus).

Health dmg build is good for legendaries (all of them and specially roosevelt bosses) + against razorback (if you are not using ravenous/pistol/dcholster build)

I personaly using this build for solo league speedruns (with rifle as secondary) because lot of enemies are redbars or armor plate enemies (even in duo it is very good because biggest problem for status guys are armor plates enemies and health dmg is working against them)

Yeah. You don't really even need a healer if you can kill things fast. I'm pretty sure the DUA 11 min speeds run did not have any player using blue cores in any build.
